@cdemke yeah I saw that, spencer's really good! He's got a good car! I think it's a shame to not see cory in a car though. Do you aspire to be in top fuel?
@nostalgia no offense taken :) Spencer Massey just did the same thing to Del Worshom to win in Englishtown last weekend. I am glad you liked the video! I boosted the audio at the end of the run so you could feel my pain!!! hahahaha
@cdemke Hey, that comment I left was supposed to be 'haha the end is funny!' but I got half way through and accidentally left it at that! I was certainly not laughing at your loss! It's very cool to have you respond though, I went to the drags at the my local track this weekend, you guys have my up most respect doing what you do!!! It's a great video, thanks!!
Hey Sardosfish!! If anything has gone wrong in the motor such as a broken valve or piston rod it does much less damage if the motor is shut off immediately after crossing the finish line instead of driving it off the track. I learned this the hard way..... thanks for asking!!!
@sardosfish as cdemke said to lessen damage if any done to the engine but also drag cars are only packed with enough fuel to get them over the life, less fuel less weight fast car
I guess Chris has a different driving style than I would but I think its odd that he uses his right hand to launch the chutes....since it is on the left side I would use my left hand....whatever works I guess....
I have been asked this question before. The chute levers are ~8 inches in front of my left shoulder. While I can hit the chute levers with my left hand I was taught to use my right hand. Here is a simple test to explain why: try touching the back of your left hand to your left shoulder... then try touching the back of your right hand to your left shoulder. Then imagine this with a multilayer -20 suit on and it should be easier to understand why I use my right hand to 'throw the laundry'.
Yeah I didn't think of that...makes sense. You guys do use a multi layer suit and alot of guy use underwear under that...and if its only 8" that isn't that much room to work with all things considered. I watch you all the time on the ESPN Sportsman shows...I would totally love to drive an alcohol dragster....you are so lucky to be able to do that
Like I said, I have been asked this before as it seems like i 'should' be using my left hand. Notice that I use my right hand to operate the brake, hit the chutes then kill the ignition. If I used my left hand for the chutes I would be swapping hands on the steering wheel, and I like to keep one hand on the wheel at all times :) Also, you are absolutely correct: I am VERY lucky to have the opportunity to drive an Alcohol Dragster!!! Thanks for posting.
Chris I noticed you pull on the brake during the burnout. Is that to heat up the carbon brakes or just to control wheel speed in the water? and how the hell does Massey get off the line that quick with a crowerglide? Or is it some kinda hybrid pedal clutch? does anybody look in that pit space?
You caught that comment? hahaha I intentionally boosted the audio at that point. Spence always cuts good lights, so I tightened up the clutch airgap and was light on the brake lever to try and cut a good light. The car started to creep on the starting line and distracted me. I think I had a 0.200 light or something like that.
whats up is this spencer or chris puttum, this is cory stevens from fort worth back in day, congrats to your success so far, dont choke punk, let drew know when you get in town so i can buy you a beer or two later......817 4 life
this is the coolest thing!...ive always wanted to see this kinda vid...i always wondered what happened inside these cars during a run...again thanks for this vid. good luck with your future runs

Lwiss230 3 years ago
The lever I am pulling with my right hand is the brake. I shift with the 2 buttons on the steering wheel. Thanks for asking!
