It is actually sad how gun reviewers on youtube bicker and fight amongst each other when the real enemies are the ones who are trying to take our rights away. Yet I see more fighting amongst our own gun community over who knows more and who is right and what gun is better. Its a damn shame we can not unite effectively. On another note the 5.56 at that range seems to have similar weight and energy of a 32 acp JHP. As long as there is no body armor involved yes a hit center mass will kill you.
I know a guy who lies and said with an AK47 and iron sights his Father made a kill shot on a deer at 800 meters using the standard iron sights. Youtube has so many people who lie you lose count, most of these big mouth people will never have a video as proof either.
@millerusaf Well this was from a 15 year old American kid who said his Daddy was former Soviet commando, lol. Who is going to argue with a 15 year old who knows his stuff. Deer at 800 meters with iron sights and bone stock AK = lie.
how can you see an enemy if he is 800 meters away standing near a forest? What if the enemy is behind cover? If it's in the middle of a wide open desert area I guess you could hit a guy at 800 meters but what if there is a lot of wind, a guy is not going to stand still for you and he could be shooting back if he sees you.
@semiautoriflelover1 You'd be surprised how easy it is. I've trained to shoot the M240B past 800 meters with iron sights and you can pick up full and half torsos relatively easily as long as your vision is decent.
The side topic in this video is about the velocity of the 5.56mm round at 800 meters and the ability to penetrate at that distance.
at 800 meters .223 would be going 1000 FPS, + or - 200 FPS would be like 22 high velocity round and plenty to still do some dammage, this is based on some long range velocity charts.
The reason NATO adopted the 556 was its velocity and in relation to its size you can carry more than 30-06 or 7.62. Its widely known as a bullet that can travel far and still have a kick.
I asked 155mm a couple weeks ago if he was gay and he blocked me from his channel, just a simple question, my guess is he got railed by 11b's the whole time he was in so he's just a little bitter about the whole deal, hahaha.
a 22lr fired from a rifle only exits the muzzle just above 1000 fps and will penetrate a human way further out than the muzzle, so to say a 62 grain m855 traveling over 1000 fps at 800 meters will go right through you no problem. A bullet doesnt have to be going supersonic to kill, hell a 45 acp only exits the muzzle at like 800-900 fps
isn't it momentum not velocity that has the punch? I understand that velocity is a component of momentum but momentum is where the power comes from... right?
Excellent video.Everyone should do there own due diligence and not bank on hearsay. I also have two quotes for the word assume.Spell it for me and assumption is the mother of all f___ ups.
You do a great job on your videos keep up the good work. Don't let that 155mm guy get to you. I mean who names there channel after there penis size like that guy.

@TheDEMONKING0000 the chart is most likely out of a 20" barrel the Military uses 14.5" or 10" for their short barrel rifles the 16" is more of a civilian thing
@millerusaf I know a lot of units use the 20 inch barrels still. I meant that the chart was most likely not based off a 16 inch barrel because the Military as far as I know don't use that barrel lenght. Most the time you are talking about a couple 100 fps less with the short barrels comparied to the 20 inch barrel. Most 5.56 ammo is loaded to be shoot out of a 20 inch barrel so that is why they normally set their chats up with the 20 inch as the standard.
Millerusaf. I have too confess this at first i thought this was going to be a "How to use your computer Keyboard Video" I got scared for a minute because i can only type 3 words every two minutes! LOL!

The M193 55 grain round has 104.9 ft/lbs and the M855 62 grain round has 140.4 ft/lbs at 800 yards that is the equal to some .22 rounds at the muzzle. I don't know of many people that really beleive a .22 LR will not break skin at point blank range.I try to have something to back up what I say on YouTube with facts, just like I do in the REAL world because I hate looking like a jackass(if I can help it).
lol... I am not expert, but I have used the M16A1 & A2 while in the Corps & the info you gave and the research was right on. The M16 was known to jammed but the range and the accuracy is always a plus.
I saw a video about a while back about people who said they were vets but actually were not and a 155millimeter was on there. don't know if it is the same 155millimeter.

55gr m193 projectile @ 927 fps = 104.92 ft-lbs of energy
62gr m855 projectile @ 1010 fps = 140.41 ft-lbs of energy
40gr .22 high velocity @ 1200 fps = 127.87 ft-lbs of energy @ muzzle
40gr .22 subsonic @ 950 fps = 80.14 ft-lbs of energy @ muzzle
A .22 subsonic can easily drop a full grown man if hit in the right place so either of the 5.56 rounds will do the same if not much better than a .22 at 800 meters
Most combat deaths happen at much closer ranges, usually within 50 meters, I saw some report on this when I was in the Army, but I can`t remember all the details. Can you even see 800 meters, in totally flat country you might, but in most terrain you probably can`t buildings, trees, and other things get in the way. But to shoot and kill something that far not likely, but if you did hit a person that far it would ruin their day.
@quimbyt Average combat distance varies of terrain and type of warfare. Example: In afghanistan, lots of engagements of the Taliban are happening at farther distance because the Taliban know the effectiveness with our 5.56mm rifes are reduced at longer ranges. 800 meters isn't that hard to see, though.
HUNTING ARROWS (usually 250-350 grains) are about 300 ft/sec with the kinetic energy of about 90 ft-lbs. This is enough to kill dangerous game such as grizzly buffalo etc. But i guess for humans it wouldn't even break the skin. So should I say: "I used to have only broken skin from 5.56 rounds, but then i took an arrow to the knee."
@lights8811 Not trying to disagree with the facts about how good the 5.56 is at 800, but in keeping with the theme of this video, an Arrow doesn't kill you with hydrostatic shock. It does it by creating a wound channel that causes your to bleed out and drown from rapid internal bleeding. The hunting arrow typically glides right through it's target with little knock down power. No disrespect, but they don't compare the way your comparing them. Just saying from experience :)
@D3mang3l Yes you're right, i was just trying to compare velocities. Witch makes me wonder...if someone have done the math on the distance you have to stand for a sniper with 5.56 rounds to perform acupuncture therapy on you. LOL Sorry, I'm gonna have to rest my brain now.
@lights8811 LOL no problem I knew exactly what you meant, I wasn't trying to knock you at all, just be a snob and correct you like the D nozzle I am. As for your acupuncture question. I think that would be funny as heck and my brain hurts now too LOL
So, you mean everything I hear on the internet isn't true? Awe, man. I am going to have to rethink my entire strategy on discovering the truth. You know, the guy that made that comment probably lives in his mom's basement, and his knowledge of firearms probably came from playing Call of Duty.
I wouldn't call an 800 yard shot with a 5.56 to be minimal skill. It requires some decent marksmanship with any weapon, and in the case of 5, the wind drift is simply insane, so extra challenge for teh lulz. If you consider a shot like that easy, then you're underestimating your own skills.
I'm not a gun expert, but when I heard 800m with a 5.56mm will only break the skin, I literally said "Huh?" out-aloud I knew that there was no way that it just breaks the skin.
shooting dimes at 100m ain't shit. it is the standard. 155 shitstain needs to be shooting dimes at 100m or he would need to shut the hell up.
but then his 800m statement shoots any possibility of credibility to shit.
if he rebuts, he'll probably say he made a typo.
if he ever stood UNDER a 1km target while his buddies are shooting with 55gr AND 62gr 5.56 he'd have heard the "POP" and on a hot day with a 20" barrel a 62gr can (sometimes-variations in load) still be supersonic at 1km.
There are rumors of the "inefficiency" of the 5.56...but that takes the cake on claims. Good thing was that this guy encouraged me to be proud of my 'Combat' Veteran status. I was deployed to Kuwait during the later end of OIF. No shooting, but lots of possible espionage. And heat.
u know wat wuld be an intresting vid? shoot a side of pork ribs at 800 yds with ur AR. itd prove this guy wrong without a doubt thats for sure, or just ask him to put his money where his mouth is and take a 5.56 @ 800 lol
Miller, I like you and your videos, so don't take this wrong... Why did you waste 6:26 on that D-bag? He's like one of those crazy old ladies with all the cats....You know the one...the lady that used to yell curse words out the window at you as you walked to school... We all know not to trust anything he says. But thanks for the concern anyway.
@XxXPenrdXxX Most 5.56 ammo is military ammo. You can find 5.56 spec commercial ammo but it's not as common, and generally more expensive. Most commercial ammo is .223, and 5.56 is usually loaded to a higher pressure than .223, but they've both got pressure levels they cannot exceed or they'd be blowing up guns. A 5.56 chambered gun can handle the higher military ammo pressures.
I agree... always double check any information... It should be a given that anything thats supersonic is going to do far more than "break the skin". the velocity is not great enough for the bullet to yaw, but a center mass hit is still very deadly. there is one or more videos on YouTube of guys shooting an AR (with a very heavy barrel) past 800 yards accurately.
i dont know anything about the drama... but i suggest if anyone thinks that the 5.56 wont break the skin at 800m, they should volunteer to get shot, because it wont hurt them by their own logic.
obviously he is being a bit over the top, any gun will hurt at 800 meters. even a 22LR if it hit you, their range is what, a mile and a half?. i dont know 155mili, heard the drama and just always stayed away. btw that 193 vs 855 chart is why i lovvvve my green tips! thx for a good ballastics video miller

I'm not a gun expert, but when I heard 800m with a 5.56mm will only break the skin, I literally said "Huh?" out-aloud I knew that there was no way that it just breaks the skin.
RogueInfinity 1 month ago
shooting dimes at 100m ain't shit. it is the standard.

And heat.
Reynard13Fuchs 1 month ago
@Reynard13Fuchs ..ugh..the heat. I used to love cold weather, but after being in the desert twice, I can't stand cold weather anymore...lol.

u know wat wuld be an intresting vid? shoot a side of pork ribs at 800 yds with ur AR. itd prove this guy wrong without a doubt thats for sure, or just ask him to put his money where his mouth is and take a 5.56 @ 800 lol
HeretoStay33 1 month ago
wow that is crazy. how could anyone that owns a AR say that.
fuyingbro 1 month ago
just ask the guy to stand at 800 meters and see if he wants to get shot at he will know the answer
mercs2crazy 1 month ago
Getting hit with a .556 at 800m is like getting hit with a .22lr at 25m. i could ruin you day for sure,

@IraqiSniper107
Yeah, but actually hitting shit at that range with a 5 is just damned impractical.
Orthrus 1 month ago
@Orthrus For those who have minimal or no skills that is correct. Some guys cant hit an Elephant at 3 yards away with a Bazooka.

wouldn't the civ. 5.56m round pack less of a punch? I've heard those carry less of the stronger(military like) powder.
XxXPenrdXxX 1 month ago
@XxXPenrdXxX Most 5.56 ammo is military ammo. You can find 5.56 spec commercial ammo but it's not as common, and generally more expensive. Most commercial ammo is .223, and 5.56 is usually loaded to a higher pressure than .223, but they've both got pressure levels they cannot exceed or they'd be blowing up guns. A 5.56 chambered gun can handle the higher military ammo pressures.

I agree... always double check any information... It should be a given that anything thats supersonic is going to do far more than "break the skin". the velocity is not great enough for the bullet to yaw, but a center mass hit is still very deadly. there is one or more videos on YouTube of guys shooting an AR (with a very heavy barrel) past 800 yards accurately.
weaponeer 1 month ago
Just another piece of fact that shows just how much 155 knows and or wants to believe....Thanks Miller for sharing with everyone.

i dont know anything about the drama... but i suggest if anyone thinks that the 5.56 wont break the skin at 800m, they should volunteer to get shot, because it wont hurt them by their own logic.

someone tried to argue saying a 44 magnum with a 4 inch barrel recoils harder than a 500 magnum with a 8 inch barrel. some people are just stupid
SonsOfLiberty65 1 month ago
obviously he is being a bit over the top, any gun will hurt at 800 meters. even a 22LR if it hit you, their range is what, a mile and a half?. i dont know 155mili, heard the drama and just always stayed away. btw that 193 vs 855 chart is why i lovvvve my green tips! thx for a good ballastics video miller
