Well, the problem with the Apple Way(tm) is that you literally have to need a dictator and hold a fetish for secrecy, which no freedom-loving people can bring themselves to do. On the other hand, it's easy to see why "creative" types are attracted to Apple - because most of them are control freaks who would happily sacrifice babies (not literally of course) for the persuit of aesthetic perfection anyway. Kinda scary actually.
@aimbotscott that's a cop out answer. Why record so low that I have to use headphones? All the other videos and podcasts I listen to on my laptop have adequate volume levels. Why would they want to record at a low level and add an extra step to my listening and potentially turn off other listeners?
I appreciate the work around, but your answer isn't very user friendly.
A fascinating and impressive interview! This Adam bloke is one of the few people I think that could take on Steve Jobs (when he was alive of course) head on and not back down, he exudes the confidence of knowing what he's on about like few others I've seen in his field of expertise.
is it just me, or is there a slightly annoyed, negative twist on apple here. What is the authors point of the book? Just to clarify, I am not an apple fan nor am against them. But this company has clearly found a path to innovation & success that a lot of people like.....is he ticked he didn't get more cooperation from apple while writing his book? what is his point?
@spectr1 The point of the book is a look inside Apple's corporate culture. There's no jealousy going on, just good reporting. Like he says in the talk, everybody outside wants in. Everybody inside wants out.

No manager wants success completely defined on the company’s terms. They want success defined by their own terms too.

Adam, Apple licensed the GUI from Xerox with a share deal; they didn't steal the GUI, you confused Apple for Microsoft.
