Ah reminds me of Friday nights in 1985 getting ready to go down to the local goth club. Would always play this on the video recorder whilst getting ready. Reminds me of Insett Spiky hairspray and black hair dye!
Was quite scarred when I first saw the original broadcast but l8r married an eldritch lookalike we had fun in Leeds when the Goth scene was there. Some great times down the phony a nightclub inside a shopping center!
YOU HAVE TO GIVE CREDICT TO BRITISH TV FOR HAVING THE BALLS TO HAVE SHOWS LIKE THESE...IN THE USA IF IS NOT LIKED BY IOWA HOUSEWIVES IT WON'T BE PLAY ON TV....
first and last and always...unique milestone...for me, it the best sisters era ever. the whole attitude, sound and look is still unbelieveabel intense. THIS IS GOTHIC-ROCK at its finest!
Whereas I do like several songs by The Mission [namely Severina and Amelia], I must agree with you there. Their problem was that they tried too hard to sound dark...
Okay Kiddies I'll settle this for the lot of you. In the early 80's in the UK a music genre was created called Gothic. The acts like the Sisters, the Damned, Siouxsie, Death Cult, Specimen, Christian Death etc. etc. were all part of this scene although the Damned and Siouxie came out of the punk scene. The emo scene that the kiddiewinkles love today is totally unrelated and isnt fit to walk in the shadow of Goth. I was there an original you have no right to reply if you werent :-)
Although I cherish my Sisters, Rozz, and the lot records, I find that my Siouxsie, Joy Division, Cure and Bauhaus records have much less dust on them. I'm of the same age as you and was a black wearing, makeup wearing, fucked up hair doing new waver. I still won't ever bother with the goth tag. so silly. But, I do agree with the emo thing. It's a boring rip off of punk and the darker stuff. I still have "dark" fun nights at home with friends!
@Elektrapunk How arrogant! Invite people in if you want to but your approach does nothing to promote your "cause". I was there too but I don't wear a badge or bear any grudges. Grow up.
all this talk of its goth its emo its this its that i just have never got my head around,at the end of the day its just good or bad music whatever type, isnt it?i recall jimi hendrix stating this as rock music was becoming categorised, its all rock music.love this version of song.

The Damned were not Gothic nor were Siouxsie and the Banshees! They were in fact Punk cos I was about and Gothic music was a little later!

Back in the day, nobody called it "goth", and Emo was a comedian with a weird haircut..

This is a particularly unintelligent comment, but Andrew Eldritch is unbelievably beautiful.

Shame that Mission couldn't keep the magic of this sound considering that it was almost the same band.

@SuperVoodooguru i read once that Eldritch said "it took 5 minutes to write the songs and 3 weeks to programme the fucking drum machine"!!

Sisters are not goths, they do and they create what they think at the moment... The Mission betrayed Andrew

Although I was born in '92,
I completely agree with you.
I HATE people who compare Emo with Goth,
it's like comparing the attractivity of Rosie O'Donnell with Elton John...just no

I saw them in NYC about 2 years ago at Webster Hall. They were great. The audience ranged from about 15-50!

You can compare Goth and emo all day long, they are not the same. This is Goth as it was in the good old days before it became more `rock`
