I think that this is a good video about some of the things that YOU have done in Civil Air Patrol, but I wouldn't really consider it a recruiting video. I good recruiting video would explain what CAP is really about, give it another try!
A civil air patrol instructor yelled at me on the radio the other day, thinking I was "cutting her off". I was on base, she was just exitting the 45 to the left downwind. Great experience to be soloing on your 16th birthday and having a CAP instructer trying to show you how it's done...
Actually, The United States Air Force Auxillary, also known as Civil Air Patrol, does play a very active role in NASA missions. Florida squadrons fly airborn security and surveillence missions for NASA and in particular in support of the STS program on a regular basis. Very nice video. Do your research "nasaman"
I was active in the CAP from 1979 to 1983I received free flying lessions until solo,I laid prone in a KC 135 while refueling over Kansas.I was an active part of many real search and rescue missions.I attended the Blue Baret encampment at Oskosh. And I was 1982 Cadet of the Year S.W Region.I had a great time and did many more things.New Cadet's will have a great time to.Thank you for this video it brings back many wonderfull memories.God Speed.Tune into the Vertical V.O.R.
We went on the Huey, during Air Force Space Command Familiarization Course at Vandenberg. We saw the Shuttle and the Rocket Launch at the same activity in Florida. Everything seen in the video happened at a Civil Air Patrol activity of some sort.
i understand you saw all those things at a national cadet special activity. but the title is cap recruiting vid. nasa shuttle and rocket launches are in no way affiliated with cap. it just so happened that the afscfc landed on a week that nasa was launching a shuttle. cool video though.
True, but if I posted it as AFSCFC or NCSA, who would search that? These are things that any cadet could have the opportunity to do, I merely highlighted a few of my experiences, as I clearly state in the description.
ok we have nothing do do with NASA or rocket launches for that matter putting stuff like that on there is false information and is not tollerated -c/major K.Zimmerman
I will admit, we watched the rocket launch and went on the Huey ride during two separate National Cadet Special Activities. I will also admit that Civil Air Patrol does not typically launch rockets like the one seen in the video. However, I am sure that you are aware of the model rocketry program that Civil Air Patrol does participate in, using low powered rockets. So to say that we have NOTHING to do with rockets is also false information.
We do have an Aerospace Program, Model Rocketry Program, CAP/NASA Workshops, ect... and the word you where looking for was affiliated, we aren't affiliated with NASA, they're just a partner in Aerospace Education and Operations.
No, the National Cadet Special Activity, that I went to, ended just before the shuttle launch. However, the Delta II rocket in the video was the same one that carried the Pheonex lander to Mars.
The Bell UH-1Y Venom is an American medium size utility helicopter. The Venom is currently in low-rate production to replace the United States Marine Corps aging fleet of UH-1N Twin Huey light utility helicopters first introduced in the early 1970s. Originally the UH-1Y was to have been remanufactured from UH-1N airframes, but in April 2005 the aircraft were approved to be built as new helicopters.
im a tec seargent in the cap in upstate ny. we never get to do stuff like this. my squadrons small. im the first seargentfor my squadron but it suckes haveing a small squadron
My suggestion is that you go to a few national activities, that's where I did most of this stuff. We did the Huey rides out at the California Air Force Space Command Familiarization Course (AFSCFC). We watched the rocket launch at the Florida AFSCFC. I guarantee, if you sign up for any of the AFSCFC's you won't regret it.

Wrong. We regularly preform pre-mission flights over the launch site and participate in some learning programs.

thefreedomwillcome 4 years ago
I am not sure what you mean by "the thing" but everything in this video was filmed at either a squadron or National Cadet Special Activity (NCSA).
capflt1876 4 years ago
I don't blame you for thinking that. IM a C/A1c and If I were you I would probibley think that its just like the boy scouts...
but its nothing close to them, were a national auxiliary of the USAF (united states air force) and im proud of it.

Actually the Venom is the UH-1Y (the four bladed version of the Huey). We rode on the two bladed version.
