I also had tubes put in when I was about 12-13 yrs old. They are out now but like the one poster in here said that the ear drum will heal I had the problem when they took my tubes out that one ear healed over but the other ear still has a hole from where the tube was so it's not always 100% correct that they will heal.My doctor told me that after getting tubes taken out it sometimes heals on it's own or doesn't heal at all.So it's like a 50/50 chance really.
ive had like 8 sets of tubes.........no hearing loss, i was very young from what i remember. its not a big deal the ear drum will heal....................there are bigger problems in life than a bloody minor procedure like this
I had tons of ear infections when I was a kid, all the antibiotics in the world didn't touch it. I went through 3 sets of ear tubes. Other than having to wear fitted plugs when swimming I didn't have any issues with the tubes. My feeling is if you can avoid all the antibiotics ... do so. Funny enough 20 years later I have had (knock on wood) no infections and am able to equalize very easily when I go skin and scuba diving .... Don't be afraid of this procedure, I am very glad I had it done =)

That is normal. I have had 4 ear tubes put in and when i was 14 they fell out. Once and awhile my ear will be ichy but that is normal.
