I miss Scottie Pippen. What a truly great player he was. His defensive skills have to be among the greatest of all-time I don't care at what position. He was athletic, versatile, intelligent, and could stroke the J. Michael Jordan was lucky to have him as a teammate

Scottie Pippen: The only player in NBA history to be on a team that won 55 or more games and lead his team in pts, ast, stls, reb, and blks and not win MVP. 1993-94 it went to David Robinson who gave the Clips 71 on the last night of the reg season. I don't see how they label him top 50 of all time. If thats the case that opens up a LOT of doors for other players to be considered. He was simply Michael's go-to guy cause in those early years it was just Scottie and MJ only..lol. Im a fan but I think Scottie would be a no name if it wasn't for MJ.

Without Pippen, MJ would be remembered as a great scorer with no rings. Pippen's main strength is his defensive versatility. As a team defender he was spectacular, he always covered the uncovered man if his teammate didn't. A lot of players on the 50 list that are not even as good as Pippen.

MJ didn't have Rod for the first 3 rings. Rodman was clearly out of his prime on the Bulls as well (although still effective). His hey day was the Bad Boy Pistons and Spurs.

Each of them achieved mastery on defense and Dennis with the offensive rebounds, Michael with the 30-60 pts per game, and Scottie scoring in and out of the paint. I think Dennis doesn't get enough credit for what he does. Before Dennis made his debut, how many players were rebound kings? After Dennis retired, there still isn't a player that is even close to beating Dennis.

Every move that was thought possible at the time, scottie pippen could do. fadeaways, crossovers, hookshots, reverse pivots, left hand, right hand fingerolls, spin moves in the lane, bank shots 3 point shots. but night after night instead of trying to do it all he played team basketball. people look at his stats and just dont get it.
I grew up in Chicago, and had the luxory of watching MJ and Scottie every game. Can't deny how great pippen really was. His game reminds me of Lebron's a little bit. But, I lost all respect for him when Phil Jackson drew up a play for Toni Kukoc to hit a game winning three, and Scottie Pippen just sat on the bench. He wouldn't go into the game cuz the play wasn't drawn up for him. (this was the first year in play-offs after MJ went to baseball)

One thing people are forgetting about Scottie Pippen is he played in an era where people actually played defense and you had to really earn free throw attempts. Scottie's 22 avg would be equal to Pippen avg like 40 now so I would say Scottie Pippen is a better player in every aspect except athleticism. Lebron still can't do everything Prime Pippen could. Footwork and post moves especially. Watch any of these Pippen videos and ask yourself can Lebron come even close to duplicating the footwork and post moves of Pip or even some of the spin moves off the dribble that Pip does? The answer would be a big HELL NO.
It's easy to forget how good players were. Scottie Pippen may have been the greatest small foward to play the game and definitely was during his era. More skilled than LeBron but Lebron is the better athlete (but it's close on that also). Would be a great thing to see those to go at it in their prime.
Pippen is one of the must underrated players in NBA history. That is not without a reason though as he did play with MJ. I believe he would have been a star if he was on a different team in his prime.

Pippen would probably not have been able to score 81 in a game, or 62 in 3 quarters because he had Jordan on his team anyway, Jordan would be that scorer. A player is not necessarily better because he scores more, gotta look at his whole game.

I was fortunate enough to have watched the bulls through their championship runs. Ill say this as a fan and no knock on Scottie. This video must be a highlight reel of ALL his highlights. I don't see how they label him top 50 of all time. If thats the case that opens up a LOT of doors for other players to be considered. He was simply Michael's go-to guy cause in those early years it was just Scottie and MJ only..lol. Im a fan but I think Scottie would be a no name if it wasn't for MJ.

Pippen is Top 50 all-time because he was a highly skilled player on both ends and a big contributor to multiple championships. I would say making All-NBA teams and All-Defense teams, winning championships, and improving your game year after year will open doors for any player. You think? It's not as easy as it sounds.

Without Pippen, MJ would be remembered as a great scorer with no rings. Pippen's main strength is his defensive versatility. As a team defender he was spectacular, he always covered the uncovered man if his teammate didn't. A lot of players on the 50 list that are not even as good as Pippen.

Each of them achieved mastery on defense and Dennis with the offensive rebounds, Michael with the 30-60 pts per game, and Scottie scoring in and out of the paint. I think Dennis doesn't get enough credit for what he does. Before Dennis made his debut, how many players were rebound kings? After Dennis retired, there still isn't a player that is even close to beating Dennis.

if you think about all the other greats they all had things they could not do well, only two players in the leaugue at the time had the entire skill set and they were both in the same team. think about it. pipp could do all the moves micheal could do, Barkley could'nt, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Ewing, Wilkins, they all had limits as far as moves. Every move that was thought possible at the time, scottie pippen could do. fadeaways, crossovers, hookshots, reverse pivots, left hand, right hand fingerolls, spin moves in the lane, bank shots 3 point shots. but night after night instead of trying to do it all he played team basketball. people look at his stats and just dont get it.

I grew up in Chicago, and had the luxory of watching MJ and Scottie every game. Can't deny how great pippen really was. His game reminds me of Lebron's a little bit. But, I lost all respect for him when Phil Jackson drew up a play for Toni Kukoc to hit a game winning three, and Scottie Pippen just sat on the bench. He wouldn't go into the game cuz the play wasn't drawn up for him. (this was the first year in play-offs after MJ went to baseball)

One thing people are forgetting about Scottie Pippen is he played in an era where people actually played defense and you had to really earn free throw attempts. Pippen would probably not have been able to score 81 in a game, or 62 in 3 quarters because he had Jordan on his team anyway, Jordan would be that scorer. @kotsos62 that's cause kobe doesn't like to pass the rock. There is more than 1 man on a team, and 81 points does not amaze me it shows how much of a ball hog he is

and as awesome as shaq was with the lakers when he was younger faster and lets just say better and had one of the best pgs ever (penny) he didnt win any title let alone 3 in a row.So lets just enjoy these videos and the beautiful sport of basketball and talents of these individuals without ruining it by comparing and contrasting to other players in different times with different roles

WHY why is it in the nba world theres always this ridiculous debate over whos better and the beauty is whos better from two different eras..is it an american thing,I dont want to get into this convo but i have to say to everyone who says cause pippen only had mj and mj only had pippen and kobe had pau and fisher.and before that shaq yes shaq was awesome but was only one other person and can you seriously tell me pau and fisher are anywhere close to rodman and pippen ?!?!! seriously
