I taught myself to bowl the flipper but very differently to that,I held it between thumb and first finger and tried to "squeeze it like a lemon pip towards the batsman.It was not easy but when it worked it rocketed through at about shin high and totally stuffed the batsman who had no chance.

Or maybe you are not understanding the terminology of "turning" in spin bowling which means it deviates of the pitch. Cases in point, Shane Warne against Richie Richardson at the MCG test match against West Indies bowled the most perfect flipper he ever bowled, that kept low and took off stump.

Murali and Warne are the best. Saqi had the same kind of talent as murali/warne but he is an underachiever. Still saqi was amazing at his peak. Saqi is clearly better than Kumble though despite having a much shorter carrier. If i had to rank them i would say :

Easily the greatest bowler of all time, lets face it... half of murali['s wickets came against bangladesh, and he was the only one in the sri lankan team who could take em, warne took all his wickets even though he had to play in matches with mcgrath (who took over 500) and other world class bowlers. flipper is a pain to control due to the change in grip but a very good delivery

Practice mate, hours and hours of it, flick a ball all the time to build up strength in your fingers and thumb (It'll get sore) and check to see if your rotation around your pivot foot is a good 180 degrees as I've just discovered that seems to help with the accuracy. If you work on it and suss it out you might find it produces good in-swing as well.

yea i'm pretty sure my action is a bit loose at times the flipper kicks the way it should but i find when i bowl it, it tends to spray wide. do you give the ball flight when bowling a flipper or just bang it in short (like i've been doing)

Most of the time I try and bowl it full, but there's been some discussion on the forum I subscribe to where there's been talk of trying what you do e.g. bowl it a bit short. But I ocassionally bowl it slower with a lot of flight because it has the potential to stall. I'm going to be working on it tomorrow in the nets just to see how the accuracy is with it, but yeah if you don't bowl it regularly you might find as I do that you do spray it around a lot. It's a case of regular practice.
