  • Ive been battleing Hypothyroidism since 1998 and I get the same ol response your level are fine u are just depressed, Currently I am taking 224 mcg of synthroid, and I dont feel anybetter than I did in 1998.. Need to find a new Dr. again/.. Drs. today are made on assembly line with the same programming

  • Well done humour and lampooning is often the best way to gain attention to what is a very serious matter. Like other posts I have had the humiliation of meeting and discussing my ongoing symotoms with an endocrinologist who has a 'GOD' complex. Both visits, years apart, I was armed with excellent medical reference material to back up my request for T3 and each time, amongst the platitudes the answer was a resounding no.

My doctor finally agreed so be persistant - it is your health after all.

  • My family were horriffied when I came home and told them I asked my GP to watch it. I thought it my duty to point it out. Dont like the new armour formulation put on nearly a stone with it whilst being on a carefully controlled diet and exercise programme. Am I the only one?

  • Absolutely, every doctor should watch this little sketch. I've had undiagnosed Hashi's for decades. Naturally was put on thyroxine, which made me feel really awful. Trying to find a doctor who would prescribe thyroid extract was like a needle in a haystack. But naturally, this doctor goes by damn blood test results, not alleviation of symptoms. Honestly, you shake your head in disbelief that doctors could be so ignorant.

  • This video is brilliant. It totally mimics every single one of my consultations with power crazy GP's and 'specialists'.

  • Brilliant! Wish I could get my current GP to watch this. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease. I've been having symptoms for years and when I had my TSH last tested about 12 years ago I was told that it was just about in the 'normal' range so I was 'fine'.

I had to to really push just to get my TPOab tested despite a strong family history of it. My last TSH was 6.5 (1.5 over the 'normal' range) and my GP still thinks I don't really need treatment. The battle continues...

  • Love it! The same can be said for Lyme tests- people are being destroyed by Lyme but "the test is negative"...

  • @ tamrakat: you were very lucky to have a doctor that will prescribe T3 without an act of Congress. I have panhypopituitarism from a pituitary tumor. I made the argument for T3 supplementation and the doc gave it to me, but it is a very low dose. I told him that the consensus on the online support groups is that endocrinologists worldwide have a real problem with prescribing Cytomel (T3). I asked about the blood-work: How much T4 had converted to T3 and how much was free and how much was bound.

  • EXCELLENT INFO, hypothyroid for 8 yrs but never felt fully cured, still cold, tired etc. However I have increased my dosage by 25, 50 and 100 mcg and after some time had low TSH, high T4 and hyper symptoms. It is frustrating but doctors need to explain that the meds don't fix all

  • After being on Armour for decades, the new formulation of Armour gave me atrial fibrillation. I went on Naturethroid, which did not work for me. Now I am on Synthroid, moving from 25 mcg to 50 mcg , also on Cytomel 5 mcg. My blood test showed TSH of 16.97, Free T4 of 1.1 and free T3 of 3.0.

I am now taking 75 mcg of Synthroid and will take another blood test on March 15.

What do you think I should do about my high TSH?

  • @pilaske05 - I strongly recommend a book by Dr. Broda Barnes called "Hypothyroidism, the Unsuspected Illness". I'm not a doctor, but IMO your metabolism is what matters, not your lab work. Basal body temp is the best way to measure that, and that book will give you the methodology.

Regarding the Armour reformulation, you might have been okay eventually by lowering your dose, then working very slowly back up. I found that I got used to the new formulation that way.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and suffered horrible aching, anxiety, insomnia, IBS and depression for 3 years till I found a GOOD doctor who diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, gave me T3 and I was better in 2 weeks!!! When I think of what could have happened to me.... it makes me so angry with all the doctors I saw who kept telling me my thyroid was fine. They let me suffer needlessly for years.

  • @tamrakat Hi, Great result. What country do you live in. I am in the UK and still suffering.

  • Superb, this should be issued to all GP's!! How dare we patients question the medical profession??? LOL

  • @saloplass1 - The answer is twofold, I think:

One is that doctors are trained in acute care---meaning they know exactly what to do if you're having a heart attack or something that's going to kill you pretty quick, but if you have a condition that merely makes you WANT to die, they have less interest (and probably think you're a complainer).

The other is that doctors hate not knowing the answer, and hate admitting it even more. A good doctor is one who questions his own dogma.

  • Truly brilliant - loved it! I hope this goes viral! I'd like to sit every doctor, endocrinologist and medical student in front of this and force them to watch!

  • Absolutely brilliant...!!!

  • Love it! I have to watch it a couple of times a day at least. I love the way the doctor shuffles from foot to foot with discomfort. Shame on them!

  • This presentation really ought to be an integral part of all medical school curriculum! LOL

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I want to email it to my ex-endocrinologist!!!!!

  • A real creative way to help people understand mainstream medicine's limited understanding of thyroid issues.

  • Love the explanation and the creative way you shared this horrible miscarriage of justice. I also read you topic starting, "imagine you're unable to swallow..." (click the down pointing arrow,) this is a TERRIFIC read. Send this link to all your friends, lets help this video go viral. Li0blf0, thank you SOOO much!

  • "Yes. I want to kill myself. Do you know a quick and effective way to do that?"

"Now we're getting somewhere. Depression is a common symptom of fibromyalgia. Allow me to prescribe you a popular depression medication." CA-CHING! Hahahahahaha. Horrible thing is, I know what this feels like...

  • Thanks so much for creating this. It's AWESOME. :D

  • OMG! so so so so so so so true about our medical system.. wow

  • Great video! And wonderful explanation of "being thirsty". I wish ALL doctors would watch this, and more than anything, use their own common sense to realize the truth. Thank you!!!

  • This is so true, but ironically funny, and educational!

  • I had a tsh of 1.54 and was miserable and getting worse - also had "normal" Free T3 and T4 levels - and the last three tests I had the T3 was going DOWN and the TSH was going DOWN at the same time. My doctor let me dose Armour thyroid until symptoms were gone and it changed my life! I now have a TSH too low to measure and a Free T3 a little above the "normal" range and NO symptoms of too much thyroid. This video is wonderful! It's disgusting the way thyroid patients are being treated!

  • @utubealexisart Wow. That's interesting... Did you take your body temperature before and after? If you did, would you post the numbers? And how much Armour are you currently taking?

  • Extremely creative! Keep up the good work! Stop the Thyroid Madness!

  • Excellent but true as we are held hostage to the Holy T S H test.

  • I have normal TSH (hail the infallible TSH!) and T4 and T3 and still have all my symptoms just like this woman. My doctor seems very proud of my numbers and explains away my continued symptoms just like this video. Maybe I need to wear the outfit?

  • This is SO TRUE! I hope all my endocrine colleagues watch this!!! Dr. Hurlock
