  • I just did this today in my piper cub about 2 hours ago in a lesson. Started at 3500, then did 4-5 rotations down to 1700ft(Pattern altitude), then entered the downwind on the 45. We did this right over the airport! :)

P.S. Window was open, bottom part was locked.

  • What is the attitude you were at right before the spin?

  • I used to do that but I had to close the doors to spin or the top door wouldn't stay up. Cub's spin nice, I climbed a 65 HP cub to 8,000 feet once (it took forever) and lost count at about 15 turns on the way down. I was dizzy for the next 10 minutes. Nothing like a J-3 on a nice grass runway in the summer. It's still one of the prettiest planes ever made.

  • I'm surprised the pilots was taking the video. Why not have the pax up front do the video while the pilot flys?

  • That would be awsome in that J-3!!! espesially with a partialy opened cockpit.lol

  • I never spun the J-3. I'm surprised at how it wrapped up, I expected it would spin slower.

  • big deal

  • That's insane!! Partially open cockpit!!! Very Nice!!!!
