Probley a freak occurance iguanas washed to the galapagos and these ended up on a low food island so they evolved to swim and dive for food

@kodymcq they went on branches cos their island was hit by a hurricane so they went on logs and branches with the leafes as food source and rain as water source and lots got their and....they multiplied

I loved this. The galapogas islands are a haven for fast evolution. It is called allopatric speciation-that is the creation of new species by geographical isolation. Darwin had a field day here on the voyage of the beagle. The good examples are lizards and finches.

If eating involves such a dangerous dive, how is it possible for baby iguanas to be fed? And it seems there's a pretty thriving population on the island! Always thought of iguanas as reptiles, never knew they could actually swim!Wow!

The video said they only eat the plankton if food is scarce. I do see a big thriving population as you did too, but that's why food may be scarce, the others eat it. Turtles are reptiles and they swim.
