  • I have personally seen Bob Hoover perform his dead stick loop. Truly precise.

  • DO A BARREL ROLL

  • Actually, a barrel role is never a 1G maneuver, only a properly executed aileron roll is.

  • Bob Hoover aint no joke in the cockpit of his Shrike!! A legend right there!

  • bob is the 'man" when it comes to being a pilot! he hung out in my front yard one time checking out my home made centrifuge. 20yrs earlier, I got to sit right, seat after his show at reno air races with the engines still crackling... will never forget that! He had quite a show with the nazis in america ... (FAA)

  • Damm....... A loop & roll while dead stick. Crap he's good.

  • jap it is possible i think if its a 1 g roll without spilling

  • Wouldn't that cause stress on the plane?

  • Its the kfc man

  • Met Hoover at the VP fair in St. Louis when he perfomed there in the mid eigthies. He was quite a gentleman . I was Attending Parks College at the time and had a ramp pass.

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!!

  • @blarge911 Lol, I was about to say the same thing... XD

  • How does that tea trick work? is it the G forces holding the tea down?

  • Jaw drop!

    *Clonk!*

  • He Did a Barrel Roll, nuff said.

  • Bob Hoover, is one of the best pilots worldwide (:

  • that is so sick!!!!! coolest thing i've seen in my life

  • I saw his act decades ago when I was a kid. It was pretty impressive, because this guy would go out and do an impressive aerobatic program in a twin engine business jet. I was in awe.

Then he would do it with the engines off. The sight and sound of that thing ghosting along on the deck with the engines feathered, pulling up into an Immelman isn't something you forget.

  • "I start off by shutting off both engines"

I don't know what'd I'd do next, but it wouldn't involve rolling my airplane or pouring tea.

  • Digged

  • @qwertyasdasd1 I think it's dugged, actually. Which I did. I dugged the crap out of this.

  • if every person in our air force would be like him we would rule the world :D

  • This is beyond impressive.

  • why is there zalgo in this vid??

  • Ramirez! pour me some tea and DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • HAI DIGG

  • DO A BARREL ROLL

  • he's too humble : )

  • HEY DIGG!

  • @InedibleBuffalo GEOCITIES REPREZENTIN !!!

  • Do a Barrel Roll!

  • That made me dizzy at the end.

  • 0.0

  • Holy shit. Gods walk amongst men and this dude is proof.

  • FUck YOU I AM NOT WATCHing A god damn spam video.!!!!!

  • brilliant fella! he's also got a brilliant conk lol

  • Who is the man who was showing off a plane like this, and as he pulled into a steep climb, the wings snapped off, and he went ass over tea kettle into the hard earth?

  • that shrike he is flying is one hell of an air craft. work on them everyday and have to say if any one else was to do this to these things they would rip the wings off...as many already have.

  • This dude is great! He would take day to visit if you wanted. He will be missed.

  • @WestFlagDad

As far as I'm aware, Bob Hoover is still alive (and flying...)!

  • @flyboy172r Yes, he is alive, still flying? I thought he lost his medical. He will be missed when he goes to the hanger in the sky.

  • @flyboy172r Bob Hoover has retired and his Aero Commander is in the Smithsoninan Institute, and yes he is still alive and well.

  • @flyboy172r yup - I just saw Bob in Oshkosh at the airshow and I can assure you, he is still alive! His license had been taken away because he was "too old" but he finally managed to get it back, so he's flying again! Amazing guy with some amazing stories.

  • Awesome flying skills! Great man!

  • He's THE MAN, and so level headed.

  • That dude loves some tea.

  • check this crazy stuff out AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • Just straight up legend

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • u guys think u can do better???... he's the living legend of aviation... its not fake!!!

  • its not fake I have seen him do it. its all about the speed of the roll and skill.

  • go suck a cock faget

  • commesriel roll...1g

  • how he cab manage to full the glass with tea during inverted flight??

  • Because if you do it correctly, the forces on the plane remain at 1G.

  • your definition of a barrel roll is incorrect. it is not a 1g maneuver. you are thinking of an aileron roll.

  • Negative, during a barrel roll the G-force is kept positive, but NOT constant, between about 0.5 and 3.

The reasons why he manage to fill the glass are basically 2:

    1) the G-force is kept positive (although not constant);

    2) the resultant force is kept parallel to the airplane's yaw axis, thanks to his amazing flying skills. That's why the liquid inside the glass is steady like it was on a kitchen table.

  • Because the centre of gravity remains at the floor of the aircraft. It's the same reason that pilots will black out if they pull too many g's; their blood rushes to their feet and away from the brain. If you've been on a roller coaster that goes upside down, you'll notice that you stick to your seat. Hope this clears it up - very basic explanation.

  • @tsifetakis because he maintains positive G's during the manoeuvre.

  • Got to see him perform once. It was magnificent.

  • Lol! coffe pl0x? =P

  • This Guy is the same who rolled a Boeing 707 during firsts flight test decades ago!

  • Nah, the guy that roled the B707 was a Boeing test pilot named Alvin "Tex" Johnston. Close though, Johnston was a Bell test pilot like Bob.

  • @LOSBEST-He escaped from the germans with an fw-190. Was flying chase for Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier and flew a p-38, f-80 (in a gorilla suit), f-86, yak-18, f-16 among others. He also performed many routines in a banana yellow p-51

  • There is one man who can perform aerobatics in front of tens of thousands of seasoned pilots from all nations, many of whom are themselves experienced combat pilots, and awe them all with his skill: that's Bob Hoover.

Simply put: he's the Best of the best. I count it as a gift from God Almighty to have had the privilege of seeing him in action.

  • An uniquely talented individual for sure. I like the part where he noses over and the negative G forces fuel out through the fuel tank vents.

  • CONTIUATION These are "recips" not turbines, so you need about 6 hands to play with the mags, mixtures and throttles. It's not just "hit the air start button and watch the EGT's" while the computer relights a turbine. Driving a C421B these days, makes me appreciate his skill even more!

  • Having had the privilege of having had dinner with Bob Hoover when we were both performing at the old Reading Air Show many years ago, I have always been amazed at his ability to smoothly restart both engines during the performance. CONTINUED

  • I seen him do it at Sun 'n Fun. He autographed his book for me too!

  • kick ass read his book it's so good!

  • Totally AWESOME! Really excellent pilot!

  • I think he shuts down the engines for the loopings because it's not a 1G maneuver like the barrel-roll he does. And the engines are not made to sustain negative G forces, so if they were working, they would broke.

  • He shuts down the engines because he is performing an "Energy Managment" performance. This shows exceptional skill as he only uses the speed that he gained before shutting down the engines to perform the entire routine.

  • Well, the engines are off so yeah it's an "Energy Managment performance" like you say, but what I'm saying is that he doesn't have a choice anyway.

  • A loop is a positive g maneuver throughout, so there would be no problem with the engines running.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH!:D best joke this year;)

  • my dad flies this plane and when i take my friends he always shuts off and engine to freak them out lol

infact when this plane was used for some president about 30 years ago they took the prop of of one engine and took off with one engine

  • He totally goes against multi-engine theories and teaching. Can you imagine shutting down a engine in a check ride let alone 2 ?

  • hah, what country do you fly in? every multi-engine checkride ive ever taken involved completely shutting down one of the engines.

  • For my 121 check ride we simulated shutting down the engine- PT-64As shut downs are not recommended. My PP ME check ride yes, we shut down and feathered it. Sorry for the vague comment...

  • all my 121 PC's and my type ride involved engine shutdowns, commanded and uncommanded. All in a sim of course, but i've shutdown plenty of engines in piston twins as a student as an instructor.

  • Yea right. I do recall. It was years ago when I took my ME course. Since my training was done in actual aircraft and over water we were not allowed to do complete engine shutdown. I do also remember a funny time where my captain shut down #2 on taxi performing a feather check, he pulled the idle ground cut off and I just missed it. Huge report for that one !

  • nice lookin plane

  • A legend he is...

  • este senor no se anda con chingaderas

translation this man is no joke wayyy thumps up bob

  • OMG what a legend!

  • what a monster....superb

  • Man, Bob Hoover is the MAN! And damn so proud that he flew one of our Sabres back in '61 at Clark Air Base. I've personally been to Clark for my OJT for 2 months and a week in 2007 and those hallowed grounds are witness to the flying skills of this unique aviator! *salute!*

  • great pilot and great Leyend..

  • rudisisisisismo ke bestia ese tio la rompeeeeeeeee el mejor!

  • Wow! First person to comment in 2 weeks! Come on guys, show your appreciation for this flying LEGEND!

  • Mükemmel Soğukkanlı

Bu amca plot işini aşmış be

  • bob hoover is great...saw him once in that plane... Ice Tea?... are British friends must love that idea..

  • This guy is nuts! Making the plane dance like that?

  • And all the more crazy with both engines off. It takes incredible skill to perform manoeuvres like that with the engines off!

  • WTF? Is he pouring a fucken beer?

  • Ice tea! ;)

  • Bob, Steve Nott loved you and was so proud when you said that he made the Shrike Commander 500S more powerfull than any other 500S you have ever flown peace be with Steve Nott and its gotta go. Thanks for making my boss so happy!!!

  • Having had the Privilege of seeing his Shrike Commander preformance live 20+ years ago, My chin is still somewhere on that tarmac.

  • That...was amazing.

  • omg

  • Bob Hoover will never die. One day, someone will just quietly notice that he hasn't come back and landed.

  • Indeed, he will fly on forever

  • We will never see a better or more down to earth pilot in our lives. I am amazed at the combination of skill, competence, confidence and genuine humbleness of that man. Never a braggard, and if anyone could be, it is him. There are none better.

  • What a Master

  • What a generation of pilots....
