  • I wonder why people aren't taking a harder look at the actual cause of the riots? A good portion of why there are food riots is because food producing nations are taking large chunks of their food and, instead of selling it on the market, they convert it to inefficient fuel for their cars.

Once we finally open our eyes to the ethanol boondoggle, we can start looking at real energy alternatives and reallocated food production to where it belongs.

  • I dont believe the true topics of this crisis are being covered by the media. This is an economic crisis, where the young and old cannot find work to pay for food and other things like marriage. Ifs not going to matter who gets put into power, they will not be able to fix the economic problem. These people have no where to go, either they starve in the street protesting or they go to their homes and starve or mooch. This is why they are lighting themselves on fire in protest.

  • I thought you were better than this McCotter....

  • When I first read about McCotter cautious tone on Huffington Post, I was a bit upset to read that an American representative was siding with a dictator, albeit an ally; however after actually watching the interview, I agree with Representative McCotter.

Institutional reforms of a secular government may be better than a power vacuum that could very well be filled by well organized Islamists who may support terrorism, represent an existential threat to Isreal and the peace process

  • @mistax2k=MUBARAK ASS KISSER!

  • We must support our ally the dictator? We want "reform through existing institutions"? LOL, are you serious? You want Egyptians to submit to their American puppet dictator so you can feel safe? No wonder these people grow to hate US.

  • How about we stand with the Egyptian People instead of some unpopular puppet we propped up 30 years ago? Foreign interventionism is what separates the Conservatives from the Neo-Cons. Fox news needs to lose the neo-cons.

  • @fivestarmichael However unpopular this so-called 'puppet' may be there has been civility in egypt for the 20 some odd years. They have elections on egypt, its just a bunch of young punks who think they are smarter than everyone else who are causing this chaos. You also have no fucking idea who is the person encouraging this, he isnt some 'moderate' he is an izlamofascist.

  • @ThunderAppeal OK, I propose this: If Mubarak is overthrown, I bet you 100 dollars, that six months down the line, he is not replaced by an "Islamofascist". That would mean us continuing this conversation at the end of June. Put your money where your mouth is mate.

  • @ThunderAppeal don't be a poof, make the bet!

  • @ThunderAppeal I suggest a more popular puppet. It is obvious the people respect the military and the military is largely in charge of the country, so the military is going to have a large say in who takes over Mubarak's position. Furthermore, the people of Egypt know their largest natural resource is tourism, so I doubt they want the Red Brotherhood setting up an Islamic Republic.

  • @ThunderAppeal turn off fox.....or at least get a few more sources

  • @ThunderAppeal What happened to our silver-tongued European history expert?

  • My money's on no jihadist / islamist takeover of Egypt in the event of a Mubarak ouster, because the Egyptians, wanting democracy, simply can't be bothered with that nonsense.

They are a devout people, yes, they go to mosque etc. But they want accountable democracy above all else. What I'm saying is that hysterical comments about the Muslim Brothers taking over and turning Egypt into a terror state are ill conceived and daft.

  • @ttodd74 Youre too thick skulled to understand any of this, but I'm responding for the sake of anyone who is just a little smarter than you. Considering that the muzlim brotherhood operates in egypt like an organized crime thought police. They are the key organization that prevents egypt from becoming more moderate, also since the mb has such a strong foot hold in egypt there is very little preventing it from using any social unrest to perpetaute its extremist ideology.

  • @ttodd74 Considering that the french lost WW2 and you needed the rest of the world to save you from the fascsits I'm not surprised that you are painfully uninformed on the social conditions in egypt. Not what the media gives you which you so gleefully consume.

  • @ttodd74 But I understand why youre too stupid to realize the danger of an extremist takeover in egypt, because you french were just too happy to bend over and take it up the ass when the fascists marched in to france. In fact it was later revealed that if you french actually showed any backbone the germans would have actually retreated and perhaps the scale of which WW2 took place could have been prevented.

  • @ThunderAppeal In the 1914-18 war the French lost more than a million men killed, protecting their country from the invader. That's backbone, dickhead.

  • @ThunderAppeal I'm so disappointed in you, "ThunderAppeal". After all that invective, a cowardly silence...

  • @ttodd74 So since the only example you can go by is to roll over for fascists I can see where you people would perhaps even take the approach of keeping your head in the sand and not consider the fact that the izlamo extremists are potentially the culprit behind this 'unrest' in egypt.

  • @ThunderAppeal I'm neither French nor Muslim. I also have a degree in history (why bring up 1940, when the French and British army were outflanked by a superior force using new tactics?). I've actually worked in Egypt (for a US / British organisation). How well acquainted are you with the country? The people behind this unrest are dirt poor Egyptians fed up with being ruled by a dictator. I would have thought that woud be right up the street of all 'freedom loving' Americans.

  • @ttodd74 There were people who worked in afghanistan who sided with the taliban in the 1990s. Your 'personal experience' doesnt mean jack shit, no one gives a shit what you did when you were galavanting around the world pretending to be the saviour of mankind. You have no fucking clue who the people behind this 'unrest' are, there arent that many 'dirt poor' muzlimz in egypt, most of them are coptics. If you had a half a fucking brain you would know that, no your just some fucking dickhead.

  • @ThunderAppeal "there arent that many 'dirt poor' muzlimz in egypt" - wow.

  • @ttodd74 'Out flanked by a superior force.' Just goes to show you dont have a fucking degree in anything except being brainwashed. Even the germans later admitted that had the french actually shown some back bone when the germans first invaded it would have been a disaster for the german forces.

You dont know who the people are behind this 'unrest', you arent there and you never were there. Nothing you say is worth jack shit.

  • @ttodd74 Right because there an non Muslim Brotherhood opposition. Sorry I'm not supporting a bunch of Islamic extremists because your too thick skulled to realize that you seem to think that Egypt will replace Mubarak with someone not named the Brotherhood who will take over. Or the Brotherhood's stooge El Baraedei. There's nothing moderate about them and they will take over the power vacuum.

  • At times I really do despair of you islamophobe Yanks. Egyptians want democracy, but all you talk about is islamists. Grow up.

  • @ttodd74 Ignoring the possibility of Egypt being taken over by Islamic extremists isn't going to make it go away. Being anti-terrorists is not being anti-Islam. Why do you connect the two? Sounds like you're saying that they are one and the same, no?
