@kendralynn008 Firstly the health problems stated are actually because of the animals exceptionally small size and by stating that many of these tiny dogs are poorly bread, I mean that you can only expect yet more problems because of this. Second, while smaller breeds may indeed have a slightly longer lifespan (going off a Wikipedia article here) what were talking about here are dogs that have been taken to the absolute extreme end of the scale.

Sorry, wrong. Very large dogs such as great danes do have shorter lifespans due to their oversized bodies putting to much pressure on their hearts. However tiny dogs have just as much trouble, if not more. Fragile bones, overcrowded teeth, problems with regulating blood sugar and frequent dehydration are all issues associated with its tiny size. Also these dogs are often the result of deliberately breeding runty, sickly animals together by bad breeders out to make a fast buck.

Very cute....however I noticed him running in circles which could mean neurological damage. I know this because I have 2 shih-tzu puppies that at 9 weeks weigh 9 ounces and are 2.2 inches long. The vet told me signs to look for....I hope this puppy is doing well.....God Bless

shes very cute. but the reason dogs are so small is because of all the runt to runt breeding to make them smaller. they come with a lot of health issues.

She is a miniature/toy poodle (when the video was taken she was a very young puppy). Toys are small to begin with, she was actually only 1/4 of the size they normally are -- in the video, she was the same size as a Beanie Baby. They are usually 4 oz. at birth, and she weighed 1 oz. -- don't know why. Thanks for the question!
