This is my first time to hear Miss Bayes. First time I heard her name was years ago, when I read that Louis B. Mayer of MGM had called young Judy Garland a "baby Nora Bayes." Nice to hear the artist young Judy was being compared to.
These songs are not only entertaining they are also of historical archival worth.A mirror of the times,so to speak.Thank you Edmundus for your musical archaeological spadework
@lionandthelamb4ever | Nora Bayes adopted three children; the youngest, Peter Bayes was my father. One of the best resources for Nora Bayes online is available at the Jewish Women's Archive. Good luck with your research!
@JenTopBay Is she really? It would be great to get some info from her, I need to do a project on a 1918-1930's entertainer, and she would be great! Thank You!
Actually "mwoldin", she is also considered an actor. The term "Actor" does not only refer to males! There's some insight for ya from the University of Iowa Theatre Dept.

And, 14 years later, the doctors pronounced Prohibition dead- how ironic!

Thank you very much for the recording and the liner notes.
I would make this one, slight correction: She was an actress, not an actor. That city block will never be taken while I am alive.
