The rope around the neck is called a cordeo and is the next piece of kit you move onto after the loose halter.Moving off pressure is all it is,taken way further than the norm.
@GallopGirl088 He has a thin line around the horses neck, the rope is probably attaced to that. I don´t see it at 2:06 but it must be there cause you canýt attached a rope to the skin of the horse :)
yeah it is really hard to see the rope or whatever at 2:06, but i knew it must not be attached to the skin, haha he has done a very good job of hiding the rope it is attached to lol must be the exact same color as the horse Thanks for the reply .

@Foczur89 There's no rope. If you look closely between 0.42 and 0.56, you can see something on the horses neck and between its forelegs. And if you can't see it, trust me, the rope ain't sticked to the horse.. If somebody is so sick to do that, then not on tv. These clips are also showed on a dvd called Nevzorov Haute Ecole. I mean, who would stick a rope in a horse? :D It sound crazy. And impractical.
could you post a video of you doing a full dressage test? id love to see that. also, what are you using around the horses neck? is it just a piece of string or what?
WOW! Finally, i get to see a horse working without a rider on it's back reefing them into the rollkur position. What a releif that there are people out there having some fun. Im not sure i'd be too keen on the playful behaviour of the chestnut myself but clearly the owner/trainer knows his horses VERY well... Congratulations.
AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY no one see that in the last seconds of the movie to horse muscules is stick lunge with probably hook on it???????????? why do you think is that for?
@Leftari That's the point! Many "natural riding" is natural only on the final effect, but to learn horse many difficult tricks you MUST do something more than give apples, trust and patience. Why we can't see how he teaches the horse? I have nothing agains riding only on rope, without saddle etc but on this level of dressage I don't believe that it is harmless.
@Foczur89 I ride natural and my horse knows more or less all the same tricks his does. I started riding naturally the same time I started trick training, and I can tell you that I've only been using harmless methods, no force, no pain. Though, I do wonder what makes you believe something else is needed? You see, if it is because YOU couldnt make a horse sit with apples, trust and patience, that doesnt mean someone else can't.
@MajaGeorgine Oh dont think that I'm frustrated rider who can't teach horse natural tricks and because of that I'm yelling at others. I don't use natural riding, but with my knowledge I can assume that for horse such training is just inconvenient, you force it to make unnatural positions, sitting on croup like a dog is completely normal? I have NOTHING agains such methods if I can only see training, not only effects. What about this longe that sticks to horse body and the is NO ROPE on the neck?
@TheJojjoHanna That depends on your definition of dressage. It is fabulous training and beautiful movements, but I didn't see any extensions or lateral work.
for simply proving that collection does not require a bit much less forceful methods, this is amazing, but I'm content with classical even without the fancy tricks.
I wish my horse would trust me more. But I recently bought her from someone and she doesn't have full trust in me. No, no one in her old home beat her. She loves me, but I don't think she would listen to me very well if I tried this. I may be breeding her soon, so I will have to get full trust right away with her foal.
@CelticTears101 You can acheive full trust with any horse, it just takes, time and a lot of patience, like with anything you have to earn trust it isn't just handed out. Spending time with her, in the field more, and just being with her not nececcerily riding etc will help form a bond, bonds are better formed on the ground than on the horses back. xxx
i love videos showing riding like this - you don't have to beat their bars bloody to accomplish a proper headset and to have the horse respect you. love it, keep it up! i might have to share this on facebook. hope you don't mind.
My horse Poco and I have a very simaliler relationship. She neck reins and pust almost all her trust into me. The only reason not all is what happened when she threw me off and broke my arm. She is the BEST HORSE I have ever have and she is worth more than the world its self.
ofc u can i know a girl that does this and she had a case with a trotter, very hot and u know like trotters are, she was riding him bareback and with just a rope. he was relaxed and listened rlly gd. nothing is impossible! =D
You have a beautiful way with those horses! You really understand them and they really understand you, this took my breath away, absolutely amazing! Great work! Fantastic video!
wow wow wow! i worship u! u can do all of that stuff, without the harsh bit, or a whip! and u r so brave! u just stood there when ever that chestnut was bucking and rearing right in front of u!
after i've seen so much vids about rollkur this really makes me calm. i ove people who respect and live and work with the horse and see it as a animal and not as an object!! i respect your work a lot!!
Strange thing it took humans some few thousands years to figure out how to handle horses without any additional instruments, - when we have a working communication with dogs.
Horses are different then dogs. Dogs are just the same like use, hunters. Horses are preyanimals and so they are a bit more complicated to understand for us hunters.
@Sky212 Majority of dogs of very simple & stupid. Horses most certainly are more comlex. Not necessarily smarter but VERY VERY different. How many horses do you know that will jump for food? :-)
@OIFYer Majority of dogs of very simple & stupid. Horses most certainly are more comlex. Not necessarily smarter but VERY VERY different. How many horses do you know that will jump for food? :-)
but it's worth wondering how he thought the horses all this.
BUT! I think it's awesome that there are people who can work with horses like that, and are willing to take the time to learn and listen to their horses.
Yes there is a loose rope around their necks, and if you can see, he gently moves it from side to side - asserting light pressure on the horse's neck, from which they move away (eg. when he moves it up, they go up, when he moves it to the left, they turn left) its a very simple principle, and one based on the horse's natural behaviour and instincts.
That's right:) Absolutely correct. (even if i wouldn't call it real "pressure" because it's too light as a touch...) But what you think is correct indeed:).
yeah, i never tried it with a rope only but now that i watch this i notice that most of the time i only use the touch of the loose reins on the horse's neck for lateral orders and a slight pull on the breastplate for slowing down or halting. On principle, this should work with my horses. But i don't trust myself enough just yet to risk no halter at all.
IT is too far from both of these craps as they involve bits and any other influence/forcing/violence on horse. Go to his site, but learn everything properly before making conclusions. It's important.
this is amazing!! but some head sets are NOT forced. my horse, a morgan, was saddleseat (didnt like it at all) so we switched him over to western and he sets his head perfectly on his own and hes won 1 world title last year and i won another one in october.
one of the best canter pirouettes ive ever seen in this vid.. am pleased there are people out there who can get their horses working correctly without forcing the head in as I see pretty much everyday..lol
Just keep in mind that not all head carriages are forced. I have a mare who just holds a rounded neck no matter what and I dont force her. But I am definately inspired by the work this man does. you can just see the pure respect he and the horse have for eachother. I love the neck ropes. They definately allow the horse to have a natural body setting.

With time and patience.. feel, timing, and balance, we could all do this if we try and appy ourselves. This should be our goal.

How did you train them to hold their head that beautifully low? O.o
*_*
MissRainRider 2 years ago
any horse moving with correct posture will hold thier head like this. it is not training, it is natural.

My horse Poco and I have a very simaliler relationship. She neck reins and pust almost all her trust into me. The only reason not all is what happened when she threw me off and broke my arm. She is the BEST HORSE I have ever have and she is worth more than the world its self.

Heh, looks pretty on the surface, doesn't it?
However, it's more to it than this, and has its bad sides also, with the good. But it's nothin near perfect - nothing is.

Strange thing it took humans some few thousands years to figure out how to handle horses without any additional instruments, - when we have a working communication with dogs.
OIFYer 3 years ago 3
Horses are different then dogs. Dogs are just the same like use, hunters. Horses are preyanimals and so they are a bit more complicated to understand for us hunters.
Sky212 3 years ago
@Sky212 Majority of dogs of very simple & stupid. Horses most certainly are more comlex. Not necessarily smarter but VERY VERY different. How many horses do you know that will jump for food? :-)

I think it looks AWESOME.
but it's worth wondering how he thought the horses all this.
BUT! I think it's awesome that there are people who can work with horses like that, and are willing to take the time to learn and listen to their horses.
MyChemicalEefje 3 years ago
The way he taught them was through utilizing the horses natural instinct to move away from pressure, then rewarding the correct movement.
jo123phoebe 3 years ago 2
oh yeah i know that!
kinda the parelli thought i guess.
MyChemicalEefje 3 years ago
which pressure? You see on them anything pressing at least any part of the body?
fleur4198 3 years ago
Yes there is a loose rope around their necks, and if you can see, he gently moves it from side to side - asserting light pressure on the horse's neck, from which they move away (eg. when he moves it up, they go up, when he moves it to the left, they turn left) its a very simple principle, and one based on the horse's natural behaviour and instincts.
jo123phoebe 3 years ago
That's right:) Absolutely correct. (even if i wouldn't call it real "pressure" because it's too light as a touch...) But what you think is correct indeed:).
fleur4198 3 years ago
yeah, i never tried it with a rope only but now that i watch this i notice that most of the time i only use the touch of the loose reins on the horse's neck for lateral orders and a slight pull on the breastplate for slowing down or halting. On principle, this should work with my horses. But i don't trust myself enough just yet to risk no halter at all.
DJBelbe 2 years ago
You mean how he "taught" the horse to do those things? It's Not "thought".. LOL..
Yeah, I also want to investigate his training methods as well to see if they are true classical dressage or if its like that parelli crap..
ubrilliant1 3 years ago
IT is too far from both of these craps as they involve bits and any other influence/forcing/violence on horse. Go to his site, but learn everything properly before making conclusions. It's important.

wooow its nice when theres good persons and they learn much of horses =DDD

this is amazing!! but some head sets are NOT forced. my horse, a morgan, was saddleseat (didnt like it at all) so we switched him over to western and he sets his head perfectly on his own and hes won 1 world title last year and i won another one in october.
XxbellewetherxX 3 years ago
one of the best canter pirouettes ive ever seen in this vid.. am pleased there are people out there who can get their horses working correctly without forcing the head in as I see pretty much everyday..lol
an inspiration this vid is
hayleycalvert 3 years ago
Just keep in mind that not all head carriages are forced. I have a mare who just holds a rounded neck no matter what and I dont force her. But I am definately inspired by the work this man does. you can just see the pure respect he and the horse have for eachother. I love the neck ropes. They definately allow the horse to have a natural body setting.
