This video is very much like his book "Be Here Now". The sounds are a a challenge that are meant to force one to focus on his words, it;s replicating how the mind works is it not?
They put alot of audio enhancements on alot of terrence mckenna lectures as well, very big mistake to have distractions on top of lectures that can be very hard to absorb and truely understand to begin with, but then again if your watching or looking for a ram dass video to begin with, your probably smarter and more humble then most the people on this planet anyways
@murza25 This piece contains nineteen clipped up minutes of a two and a half hour lecture called "An Evening With Ram Dass" which is available (with original video and ambient sound) on youtube.
I sort of feel like you are criticizing a painting for not being a photograph -
It's not a lecture, and it's not a song it's somewhere in the middle -
@robmorick lol A lecture is an oral presentation intended to present information or teach people about a particular subject which this clearly is , As for this being "Sound Art" Ram Dass didint put the audio enhancement into this "lecture" my friend so as for your feelings as im criticizing a painting for not being a photograph, its more like im complaining that somone took a beautiful painting and smeared crap all over it.
@wenaolong overated? its simple...simple ideas and declares awareness...im sorry if this beautifull magical life is boring for you. You better go turn on your tv and watch some more american idol.
@chrismonkeybus He actually describes himself in this lecture, towards the begining as "sort a christian suffi buddhist hin-jew" I think that the message is one of "many roads"
Yeah, there's a place within us that already understands. The trap and the liberation are both emanations from the same root, desire. BUT, they are not the same poles of desire, and they are not inevitable as to order. You may become trapped in your "freedom" or you may be free in your "trap". Think about it.

Notes - Renunciation is giving up attachment. It might be best to do this where we are, living our normal day to day lives.
