  • ew poor joy

bet you had to stock up on tomato juice

hahahha pink dog. i know that wasn't funny at the time, but lmao!!!

  • Omg Joy just got a visual of all this...I`m sorry but I had to laugh...I can`t imagine the smell being that close to it and to hate it in your house good lord..... I used to hate it in the summer when you leave the windows open at night to be woken up by the smell of shunk and it was probably no where near close...

  • OMG, there is nothing worse than the smell of a skunk. It will stay with you forever! Not literally, but you know what I mean. I'm sorry but I laughed and laughed at your story! I'm so sorry and hope that the smell goes away soon and bandit gets white again! LOL I hope you can laugh about it soon but I know it won't be till that smell is gone!!

  • i found this online: mix 1 qt. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ to ½ cups baking soda and 1 2 tsp. dish soap. (Its important not to store this in a closed container since the mixture of these ingredients creates pressure and could burst.) Another thing to keep in mind is the bleaching effect hydrogen peroxide could have on your dogs coat. If this is a concern, try substituting vinegar for the peroxide.Wash with this solution & let set 5-10 min. rinse & repeat. good luck ;)

  • I'm so glad to see a vid from you! So sorry though it's about getting skunk'd! Oh Lord, that's just awful! I just don't know what I'd do if that'd happened to me! I sure hope the smell fades as fast as possible. It's horrid, VERY horrid, I know.

  • Of course it was right before bed time, they never come when you just get up.

I would put em out and take a pill!

  • Hooooooooo Lord, Joy!! Just watching this vid, I'm smelling that smell, all over again. Yep, I had my own "close encounter" with a skunk many years ago, and I think it's something you never get out of your head.

Yes, tomato juice does really help, but it takes soap, baking soda, scrubbing and soaking, and time. And I swear, 6 months later you can still smell it. Or at least you think you can...

  • OH my goodness...now that was quit a mess you have gotten in my dear.

  • Oh man I feel really bad for you and the critters. We actually don't have skunks where I live so always wondered what the smell was like. Although not so much that I go down there to find out. lol

I bet if there is a pet groomer near you they may have some tips on how to properly clean the animlas or do it for you. Other then that I can imagine there are hundreds of google hits on how to rid yourself or the house of the smell. : )

  • lol Oh nooooes! What an ordeal! :O

  • i think what was funny was "look the screen is as pink as bandit." that made me laugh, sorry about your misfortune..

  • Lay Law dem critters sho nuff stank. SHEESHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Good seeing you, and as always love your stories. Huggs

  • Good to see you. Sorry about all you smelly problems. Your story made for a good laugh. (sorry) I was relieved to hear you say you had your drawers on.

    :+)

  • Yeah you'll laugh at it in a year...Same thing happened to me once....I used a mixture of poroxide, baking soda, and liquid soap. It worked better for us than the mater juice....you can find the measurements online...

I even got sent home from work cause I stank...LOL

  • LOL Bummer!! It is great to see you! I need to call you!!!

  • You poor thing... then again, pink is your favorite color...

  • Bless yo heart....LOL

  • Joy I wasn't laughing till you said your dog was PINK! lol!!

The only way the Tomato Juice will work is if you let it totally dry on them. You've got to rub it in too. I know they are in the house. Don't know what you're gonna do about it getting all over the house.

  • I'm really sorry that this has happened to you Joy but I must admit it is kinda funny.......................sorry

  • My dog got skunk'd once - we had to take him to the vet to get the smell out. On a side note - he did recomment tomato juice for future reference.

  • yeppers, bath in mater juice !

  • Oh golly! Hmmm, sounds like kzoome2's solution might remove the pink too. Good idea. Yeah, finding the humor might be a challenge for a while. You'll be doing laundry in that formula (or with a LOT of oxyclean) for quite a while I think. Oh my goodness. I'm holding my nose in sympathy.

  • What a way to start your day!

  • Good to see you! I will pm you a web site that might help you.

  • I cannot get my comments to stick!!!!!

  • I have smelling the scent of skunks in the edge of our woods. The vet might have a mixture you can use but Tomato juice is supposed to work for bathing!

  • This works...1 qt. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda & 1 tsp. liquid soap. Wet the dog, and work the formula thru the fur. Leave on the dog 4-5 minutes & then rinse thoroughly. Also can be used to wash clothes, walls & windows. Throw out any leftovers.

  • Tomato juice only disguises the smell, it doesn't get rid of it. I gave a friend the remedy & she said it worked great! Good Luck

  • I just saw this comment after I already gave you this same remedy, sorry....but it worked great for us....too

  • have you called the vet and see what else you can use

  • poor babies what about bathing them in mater juice
