It's true what sclogse1 said - the scene in the forest is some of the most exciting cinema I have seen since 60s cinema - if you want to direct, you have to watch this film. How anyone can control a scene like that is remarkable. It is truly masterful cinema which equals the power of Tarkovsky, Fellini, Antonioni, Lynch and the rest. Enjoy the film as a whole - I did.
This drifty slow moving film knocks you completely out at the end...It goes to a completely different level in the dark of a forest. I think it's the most amazing ending to any film I ever saw, and I'm a straight 60 year old dude in san francisco surrounded by great cinema. You have to see it to believe it, and watch it in a dark room...and when the last scenes in the forest come on...don't let anybody start chattering next to you. tell them to shut up. Unbelievable ending.
So right about that brother. The last quarter of the film in the dark forest still sticks out in my mind 6 years later as one of the most incredible sequences in cinema of the 2000's.
