@LendmeYourEar1966 lets see, your what? 46 years old and still making dick jokes like your in the 3rd grade and living in your parents basement..time for you to get a life,loser..
My grandpa just gave me his mets hat he hade for 5, maby 6 years and we were talking about the mets and how he was going crazy when this happend. he told me he had a ticket to this game, but would go without his wife..
I remember that day as though it were yesterday. I got home from school in time to catch the last out on TV, then was late for a drum lesson because I just HAD to watch the postgame celebration. That was when all World Series games were played during the day.
The elderly gentleman in the Mets clubhouse at the 6:45 mark was Mets co-owner George Herbert Walker. In case you were wondering, his nephew and great-nephew were later presidents of the U.S.
DannyA123, I was also in the 6th grade in New York City as well. PS 253 in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. We were fortunate that a teacher from another classroom would keep us updated on the World Series. Too bad my own teacher wouldn't allow us to see the World Series. I did have my transistor radio then and I was fortunate enough to catch Al Weis' game-tying home run in Game 5 that afternooon Gosh, it was 42 years ago today when the Mets won it all! It will never be forgotten!
I was in 6th grade in 1969 in Ridgewood, Queens at PS81. My homeroom teacher, Mrs. McRae, would send notes to me in my other classes giving me updates on the World Series. Great memories.
I remember this as though it were yesterday. I got home from school in time to catch the last out of the Series, then was late for a drum lesson because I just had to watch the postgame show. New York went absolutely bananas.
6:20 Even the National League brass couldn't contain their excitement for the Mets. No PR or sugar-coating here: "Greatest thing that's happened to baseball!"
@Luigi84289 - Nolan Ryan pitched in the 1969 WS with the Mets, and recorded the last out of the 1969 NLCS for the Mets against the Atlanta Braves, but he was never on the mound pitching the last out of any World Series. Jerry Koosman recorded the last out here in the 1969 WS.
@LendmeYourEar1966 go watch some more captain and tenielle videos..that explains it all

Who could have guessed that the final out of the 1969 World Series would go onto manage the other team to their 1986 World Series title?

What a scene, what a time, what a team, what a memory. Probably the greatest event in the history of sports.
