@MEssED89 yes you can save the background as .png be aware though if you have a transparent part in your image it will show white by default unless you go into page properties and set a background color to lay under your image. the background color will replace any transparent part of your png file.

Here's a trick, take out a pen and paper, take notes on everything he does and put all of that in your little file cabinet in your desk; and BAM. You will be creating an entire library of hand written tutorials with access to at anytime!

You will be able to arrange this to put Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, and other software tutorials right next to you. And you know what? Writting all of this stuff down once actually pushes you to remember, it's nearly as effective as taking a course for it!

No, I think this guy is perfect for tutorials. Good voice preventing you from falling asleep and he's got that little thing that keeps you interested.

The pace is PERFECT. I doubt anyone is able to follow the video live without having a dual-monitor setup and be quick, but taking notes while he is doing this, and using the pause and rewind functions is the way to do it.

I like how he makes his videos short and interesting.

its a bit pixelated..... and PNG files cannot be used in dreamweaver (i think, its just jpeg)

Yeah you can use png for buttons, if you want to use non square buttons.

It's probably in gray scale mode. Change it to RGB or CMYK.

by the way evilinjury, PNG files are more bigger than jpeg's files specially if you are using alpha 0 to keep the transparency on. PNG 32 sometimes is 2 o almost 3 times bigger.

You need to set background image to repeat-x only and choose a background color from the bottom of your image.

1) What is your width of your gradient image?

2) Did you set the repeat to repeat-x?

3) The background-Image should be on the body, not on other tags below.

Okay, figured it out. Under preferences (ctr + u), under the general category, make sure "use CSS instead of HTML tags" has a check mark in the box next to it when creating a new page. This will give you the repeat options seen in the tutorial.

In my copy of Dreamweaver CS3, the page properties menu doesn't have the repeat drop down available to select "Repeat‑x". It describes this drop down in the help menu just isn't there in properties. Also instead of showing the 5 categories in the properties menu in this tutorial it only has 3: Appearance, Title/Encoding and Tracing Image. Does anyone know how I can get this repeat menu available in properties? Thanks!

thats if you want to repeat a small square. which would be good for patterns but not for gradients like this. he could have made the width 1px and it would have done the same thing, but he did it wide enough so we could see what he was working with.
