Hey, I'm doing my GCSE in media this year and we're filming for our trailers soon, I was wondering if you could give me some ideas of what to film? my group have barely come up with anything so far but the storyline we have so far is : It's a post-apocalyptic britain (no zombies just empty) there are 5 survivors who are trying to find out what happened to them, why they are immune and what has happened, into the film they find out one of them has gone mad and is trying to kill the rest.
Hey! I really like the idea of a post-apocalyptic future, I recently directed a short with a similar theme and we shot the entire film between 3-7am over three days! If you do decide to go with that idea, I'd recommend a similar time to shoot. The obvious reason being everywhere should be pretty much deserted and the colours you can capture shooting at dawn can be phenomenal. The advise I give to most people is to write about something you know. I've seen so many people...
Ive seen so many people try and be really ambitious with their ideas and in all honesty, the best work I've ever seen has been the simple stuff. You have to work within your resources remember! Story is key though man, you nail that and the rest will follow! Good luck and keep me updated!

I know what you mean, we were actually going to submit it as a short film as the 'directors cut' was just under 10 mins in length but our teachers wanted it to be an opening sequence instead. If it were an actual feature, the rest of the movie would then have continued 12 months previous and we would have found out why he did what he did.
@jackdmillar Does media studies involve meeting to a set brief for the whole class or can you decide if your final piece is a trailer, music video, advert etc (next year), thanks.
@stanleygibbsons For someone with a 'doctorate in media', you don't have much idea of what is feasible for group of 16 year olds with a budget of about £5, who are also using school equipment. Please do share which institution your doctorate is from.
Great camera angles and colour/lighting/sound effects and storyline, but it sort of drags on a bit, examples being with showing him walking for ages and the sign of the school shows for way too long. Also, the music was a bit unrelated I think to the story, it seemed a bit too cheerful and reminded me of Harry Potter which made me find it funny which it shouldn't do.
Just a bit of constructive criticism- good stuff otherwise though. :)

This is almost the same as what I did in my AS a year before you..Had pretty much the same beginning and similar ending..and I used the same song (Usual Suspects)
I like the CCTV shot very good! and the shot with the medium shot of the boy walking towards the camera. Good idea overall. Camera work could have been better but overall very good!
I thought it was good, although there are a lot of things in it that could be improved - the camera work, mainly. And everything from 2:28 - 2:40 was kinda shit. Overall though, I liked it.
i remember when i was at college 10 years ago, i produced a documentary for my coursework far far superior than this crap, and i only got grade c..........its ridiculous how things change with time and how crap stuff can now be regarded as grade A stuff. this video would not have even get a grade E in my college days. its a sign of the times and what society has become today. if crap is everywhere, then crap becomes acceptable.

The only criticism in the music whenever the antagonist is in the shots. Its a little contrapuntal and bizarre. But getting an A was a pretty good effort!
its pretty smart actully..i like the part where he takes off his robe as the camera goes up then comes down and he is changed. its very well edited and the camera stays still.

Yeah its very good, I made a documentry for mine. You used a range of shots, but more importantly you knew your concept. With a budget that could be a film, its so like the Hollywood rubbish that they spend millions on.
