This is awesome seeing these GM Old Looks back in service! I grew up in NYC in the 1950's as a kid and this is terrific! Definitely have to catch a hop in one on the M42 this Holiday Season!
Wow! Those look immaculate also! I sure remember in Portland, Oregon when Rose City Transit ran them all over in the 1960's--rides just 15 cents. I think Tri-Met still runs a handful of GMC fishbowls along a regular route.
Those window designs on the vintage buses came along about 1954. Prior to that the side windows had square corners. The 1954 and later had rounded corners on the side windows. Great video with memories.
The roll signs are in the wrong place on the 2969. The correct location is route number on the left (when facing the bus) and the destination on the right above the operator.
wow, thats really incredible..most major bus municipalities will tell u in a minute, we are not into nostailga.(Septa)...Nice to see Old GMs running..in clear HD looks weird not seeing them in a grainy 60 or 70s 8mm..nice catch..
I rode 2969 last Monday on the last west bound run before returning to the depot. Great ride but it was pretty noisy in the rear. Vintage adertising inside above the window line. One of three GM old look buses running that day. They run 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Monday thru Friday weather permitting until Thursday Dec. 31.
This really brings back memories, I grew up in NYC and remember the first of the fishbowl buses that replaced these. These had a unique smell of the exhaust that I still recall today. Great blast from the past...wish we could travel back in time to an earlier simpler era...

Ah, the unmistakable sound of the GM 671. The windows in that first bus aren't original. All we need is Ralph Kramden!

Parry Bus in Mafia 2
(Note that I saw one in North Millville bus station, I didn't steal it because of the cop walking around)
