Masta Ace came out in the mid 80's..I cant think of anybody that sounded like him before that..If u really pay attention to Q-Tip and Eminem, you will see traces of Masta Ace in there..I havent studied enuff rappers to have a top 10, but I'd have to believe that Ace is either 9, 10 or just on the fringe..He is an innovator, and his energy, rhymes, voice, and persona are at the top..never had a wack album..His beats werent always great, but u listen to him and you know that hes the real deal
