Todd represents the right answer by saying that the doctor has to preform a procedure that might save both mother and child. Concrete example a tubal pregnancy. If a child develops in the fallopian tube the mother and the child will die. A medical procedure exists to try and move the egg into it's proper place. Not abortion.
We need to further science because as it stands now the surgical procedure I'm talking about 98% of the time results in the baby dying. But it is an attempt to save His/Her life not to kill it.

fact: there is NOTHING in the bible that says its wrong for a woman to end a pregnancy.
fact: there is a story in the bible where a pregnant woman was to be hanged. the unborn fetus was of no consequence.
