  • This band is the second coming of TooL

  • @ZachValkyrie Could you imagine what it would sound like if Tool and Karnivool did a song or an ep or something together?

I can't imagine. All I know is that it would blow all of our minds.

  • I keep coming back to this video...it gives me chills.

  • I'll never forget when I saw these guys play this and change for an encore, it was epic to say the least.

  • Just found out about this band through Pandora. I haven't heard any recent noise about new material coming out, only that they are playing gigs. i bought both CDs. really like Sound Awake. Hopefully they are working on the next CD as this band has really grown on me. A tour in the US would be f'g epic!!

  • @squeeky11111 They are recording as I am typing! Hear one of the new tracks at a recent gig :)

  • @squeeky11111 They came to the US twice in 2010, so good chance they'll be back in 2012. Make sure you make every attempt to go to every show you can.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • Messes up the lyrics at 7:13, but damn is that ever a friggin awesome act!

  • @twent4 Also the beginning in the recorded version: "changing the tone changing my mind changing the weather." He flips them in this performance. I believe that's due to this being performed before Sound Awake was released so it probably wasn't completely decided upon yet.

  • @twent4 This was before the album had been recorded. It's possible they changed the lyrics between this performance and the final recording. A whole bunch of lyrics are different. Some of the guitar effects are pretty different, too.

  • I love Tool but I find Tool can be depressing and fatalistic, personally I can't stay for an entire concert of Tool, attempted 3 concerts. When I attend a Karnivool concert the energy is always positive and energizing. These guys are most certainly influenced by bands like Tool, who isn't! I hope Karnivool rule the world soon.

  • i was lucky enough to see em in the states for free at sxsw with a crowd that has never heard of em

  • Girl grooving at 4:15. Hot girls follow Karnivool. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • This is DEFINITELY good shit kenny

  • temazo

  • I think there better live and I love there recorded stuff

  • How is there dislikes? I know a lot of people say this but, for this video? I ACTUALLY don't understand xD

  • and canada

  • They need to come to USA....... Hurry up!

  • @nicewatches I'm sure TooL could use an opening act!

  • how old is ian?

  • @scissorsinabox gods dont age

  • How dare someone make fun of Tool!?!? Shut the fuck up and grow some ears. Honestly anyone who is going to make fun of someone's music should grow up. If you can't appreciate it, that doesn't mean we can't. So just shut the fuck up, the world could do without you

  • Motorboat noises, sheep and loops?? Who are you getting tool confused for?

  • I just don't get all the Tool references....every song these guys write is fucking awesome, everything, lyrics, composition, playing...They put out three records full of music, not stupid ass motor boat noises, sheep, stupid fucking loops, and stupid lyrics. You can take all the Tool records and have one cd and a half of real music. And all these guys kill...Steve has me totally rethinking how I approach the kit. These guys are just so much more satisfying to listen to.

  • Karnivool is next best thing to TOOL!

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEAH!

  • Karnivool is one of the best bands ever!

  • Is it just me or does Ian Kenny sound like Carl Baron when he talks? I've seen some other vids where he talks before he sings and they just sound so similar (especially with the kinds of shit) LOL

  • Aww... I thought the singer was hot when I watched this video. I'd never seen their faces before. But then I googled them and... well, it's the music that matters. THEY ARE SIMPLY AWESOME

  • I don't see how anyone could possibly dislike this clip

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!! This band rocks!

  • i....... FREAKIN LOVE KARNIVOOL!!!!

  • Why do 5 people dislike this!!!??? I'm late to the party, but this is my new favorite band...

  • @spicbuddha They obviously had forgotten to unmute there speakers...

  • They just don't make music like this any more.

    Oh wait-

  • just the pure amount of musicianship it takes to wright and play something like this is amazing. i honestly cant say ive heard a band that can write or play as well as these guys. karnivool is my favorite band for this reason. just to show you how far there influence has spread, i am a Canadian. karnivool, if you see this, keep on making amazing music and possibly tour canada, making sure not to miss edmonton please... your canadian fan, bdawg17 :)

  • Retarded metal horns @ 1:40

  • Great Band! The lyrics are amazing! Thanks for being an inspiration!

  • Great Band! The lyrics ara amazing!

  • The drummer is so f'in sick

  • legends

  • I can't imagine hearing this song or any others from Sound Awake by itself. The songs just sound so amazing and have so much more depth in the context of the whole album. Sound Awake from beginning to end is absolutely perfect.

  • the bassist is killer

  • 7:00

    "I DON'T WANT STEWIE WELL"

    poor Stewie

  • Awesome, this band rocks.

  • 2:57 WOW

  • best band ever

  • This must have been so weird for the audience to "not know Deadman"...

  • Saw them at the Scala in London in December, fucking incredible band live and on record

  • I saw them in a small Venue in Denver over the summer...just wow. They blew my mind and everyone else's who was there. An expereince to remember.

  • saw them in sydney in 2010 at the same venue. Ian Kenny and the band are absolutely amazing, if you dont believe it is possible, Karnivool performed Deadman a whole lot better that night. Would see them anytime they are in my home town. Vool fan for life.

  • saw them in sydney in 2010 at the same venue. Ian Kenny and the band are absolutely amazing, if you dont believe it is possible, Karnivool performed Deadman a whole lot better that night. Would see them anytime they are in my home town. Vool fan for life.

  • 3:53 always gets me goosebumps. masters of composition. i'd like to know who the main composer is.

  • @progressiphiLe Drew is the main composer dude. IF you dont know who is is, he is the lead guitarist. Just sayin

  • @MusicalAndTall thanks mate. i could somehow imagine.

  • @progressiphiLe

My cousin is Jono, the bassist and I got to meet these lads one day. Drew is a person, that has their eyes light up the moment you talk about a guitar or music. Dead set. I told him about my Ibanez Prestige, and he wouldnt shut up lol. He is a legend

  • @MusicalAndTall great experience. i'm a bassist myself and i'd love to have a chat with these guys. i've seen them in leipzig on december 7th. and i was so flashed afterwards that i drove to dresden the next day to see them once again. i've been listening to a LOT of the few very good bands, but these guys are perfection.

i especially like ian dancing through the whole concert, haha.

  • Anyone know if they ever have/will tour the states?

  • come to japan, bring cog and butterfly effect!

  • Best live vocalist...EVER

  • @joenic2791 far from being that...objective statement i make

  • @joenic2791 You must have never seen Maynard live.

  • @joenic2791 yep but imho till lindemann is still the best.

  • @joenic2791 check out daniel tombpkins live (old tesseract vocalist)

  • 8:50 SO AWESOME

  • I can't get enough of this song!!!! It ROCKS!

  • @MurderOnDancefloor I think I'll die unhappy. I don't think they'll ever come to my country, and I haven't got the cash to see them somewhere else. Why the fuck was I born here.

  • y r they not superstars of the world by now??

  • I prefer Changer part 2 ;)

But they are godlike live...wish I could see them :(

  • "Dead Man" is one of my favorite songs EVER (and I'm smarter than you). I saw Karnivool kick it on stage in Madison, WI last July. Their music is complex, and they aced it. THROW SOME FUCKEN SHRIMP ON THE BARBI!!!!!

  • 7.12. Leipzig !

  • at 3:22 hotest chick eva an best band eva

  • I'd like to see The Mars Volta open for KArnivool and then they open for TooL. And then drop a few liquid or caps and spiral out.

  • @TheHimalayanGorilla Fuck yeah now ur talking

  • @TheHimalayanGorilla omg fuck yea man... best show ever

  • I really enjoy it when I see a good band and the bassist uses fingers over a pick. Sweet bass tones.

  • Fucking amazing!!!! jaja i love karnivool drew goddard its a genius and all the guys, jaja i think the lyrics in studio are : changing the tone changing my mind jaja but anyway amazing performance.

  • Ian Kenny is God

  • This is better than the studio version, damn good band

  • this song will always give me goosebumps

  • ok if you like this....pls youtube "bill hicks play from your heart!" i hope you see the bigger picture !!!

  • If you have NOT seen Karnivool live....you must before you die. They are fucking incredible.

  • @MurderOnDancefloor

you are so fucking right man...

  • @MurderOnDancefloor

you are so fucking right man...

i've seen them yesterday in aarau (switzerland) and it was absolutely unbelievable...

  • @MurderOnDancefloor so true. amen.

  • Two words : BLOWN AWAY!!!

  • 4 people are douchebags...

  • who the fuck disliked this??

  • This band is so awesome, his voice rocks!!

  • Playing in Madison, Wisconsin today at the Taste of Madison...Will be awesome!

  • saw them last night at a tiny club in MN, was easily one of the top 3 shows ive ever seen. i brought three friends who had never heard them before and they were all speechless.

the crowd totalled 50 or 60 people who payed just 7 bucks to get in, but it was one of the strongest crowds ive been a part of. Now, this is definitely one of my favorite bands

  • epic beard!

  • can't wait to see them in december :D

  • there about to be here in orlando, fl and im so glad i found them, they are a beautiful mix of tool and yes i think!

  • I have no problem with Ian being so incredible and fronting two awesome bands at once, however, I truly hope that the vool is given his full attention. I fully believe that they have the ability to become one of the greatest bands of all times. They are truly something to behold.

  • i think i just came...

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • ok is it just me or at 00:54 is there a bloke that looks amazingly like dave grohl in the audience

  • @dano555666 you sir, are a dickhead

  • I love the bass starting @02:28

  • I want Karnivool in Europe :(...

  • @dano- you're a fucking idiot....

  • I like this band, but what the fuck is with the singer being a wanker live all the time.

Shit shit, with the shit shit shit. The real shit old shit y0.

Honestly, it kind of makes the slightly intelligent lyrics seem like nothing more than clueless word mashing and rhyming. Pseudo intellectualism.

  • @dano555666 i'm pretty sure the shits aren't serious. ironic isn't the right word but you know what i mean?

  • @OomittedForClarityY

    Rofl, pure genius.

  • @dano555666

just think about words you carefully picking "what the fuck with the singer..." and you'll find your answer.

  • Guys, keep it low - youl ike it ? Fine. You don´t - klick away. Easy as that.

  • Not to mention this was recorded waaay waaay before the release of sound awake, so one can only assume this was fresh and new for the boys, yet they still nailed it. I'm seeing karnivool this weekend and again next week. Can't wait!!!!

  • why dont you try playing these progressions PERFECTLY like they do. Karnivool is an amazingly talented band. Saw them at South by Southwest in Texas. I was one of the only people there who knew who they were. Go watch TOOL live and tell me if they dont give a fuck or suck on stage. OR how about you close your eyes and listen to what they are doing and then maybe youll have some enlightenment on real musicianship

  • @0RockaRolla@, a pretty odd observation, when no one really gives a crap what the bass player looks like on stage because the songs are absolutely on another level. Those guys have to concentrate HARD while playing their stuff to stay tight, so forgive them for not jumping around like cocks and concentrating on staying in time and being where they should be. I'd love to see what you can do thats better. They sell out all their shows around oz, so obviously you are the only one who gives a crap.

  • @wolffhaven Read these comments? There are people saying they do give a shit about their performance, and they're pure professionals.

If you're going to pretend to speak for an entire group, at least read what they think and make your comments coincide with theirs.

A sold out show doesn't mean that EVERYONE loves them, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but either way, I love Karnivool, I just posted an observation of the bassist. Why does my opinion mean that much to you? Carebear?

  • I really don't like when a band member can't get into his own music. The bassist keeps staring at the singer for support. Drummers just playing, doesn't give a shit. Guitarist is in his own world. Singer's fully feeling the moment, attached to the lyrics he gave the song. But the bassist.. Really needs to stop caring what everyone thinks about him, but not just to say he doesn't care. To actually not care, so that his mind can be on the song.

  • @0RockaRolla0 you're an idiot!!

  • @battishall123 Thanks. I like your reasoning. Totally not idiotic.

The fact that you say "You're an idiot!!" with nothing else attached tells me that you're a fucking dip shit, so your opinion wasn't even considered. Back to the herd buddy, off you go.

  • @0RockaRolla0 Apparently you've never seen these guys live. Phenomenal musicians...They all give a shit about there performance..pure professionals.

  • @0RockaRolla0 the bassist cares about playing it right. steve judd is the best drummer ive heard, because of how intense and complex his drum patterns are, but oh no, we cant let him concentrate and play it right!! noone would like it then!! :P if you prefer performers to musicians, go watch britney spears lip sync cos noone agrees with you here.

  • @datswotimtknbout Danny Carey > Steve Judd

I think music should be more than just a piece you play, Britney Spears is shit, this is good music. I said the whole band get's into their creation except the bassist, speaking from experience, I made that judgment because he keeps looking to the singer for support, I used to do that, it's because you can't just let go and express your song, you're trying to perform something unnatural.

Noone agrees with me eh? You speaking for everyone now?

  • @0RockaRolla0 he keeps looking to ian because thats an important part of ensemble awarness, just maintaing a sense of connectivity and harmony between them - the last thing you want is a group of guys playing their own individual parts without much interraction

  • @Drumpro712 Why do none of the other band members have to look at him? Guitarist is in his own world. People have more senses than sight, you know.

  • @0RockaRolla0 lol i have no fucking clue what you are arguing about

  • I stated an opinion, apparently it's pissed some people off.

I love Karnivool, I'm listening to it more than anything at the moment. I just think the bassist isn't in the song, he's just playing, he's not connected. It's an opinion, I'm not sure why it matters so much to people.

  • @0RockaRolla0 mate you can here the bassist. the long notes are mostly him. hes there

  • @condom205 You're clever.

  • @0RockaRolla0 even if that was sarcasm. im taking it

  • @condom205 I'm glad.

  • They get this attention because they happen to be Australian and doing it. Earning some sort of token gimmick label. Oh, a polyrhythm, THEY MUST BE LIKE TOOL! They're a good band!

Still good solid music though. Nothing to go PCP nucking futs over though.

Honestly, they kind of sound like they're ripping off Pulse Ultra/Chronicles of Israfel.

  • @dano555666

Sounds like you've never seen them live. If this is the case, and I'm sure it is, then you have no clue. I've seen literally hundreds of bands live. Karnivool is one of the best live performances I've ever seen, and I've seen Tool 3 times.

Karnivool doesn't get attention because they are Australian, they get attention because they are GOOD. There are thousands of bands in Australia, why don't they get attention simply for being Australian?

  • One of my new favourite Bands!!!!!!

  • Dead set who needs drugs when we all have music like this. Great song and great live clip!!

  • I´m so much getting lost in that tune whenever I hear it.....damn how much am I waiting for them to perform in Cologne!!!!

  • this song is extremely difficult live, they are a little shaky at parts, but damn i am fucking impressed. \m/ \m/

  • Its a PRS (Paul Reed Smith), not sure what model though... but look the brand up on the net. They're fairly expensive - but with good reason!

  • someone has to get the full concert recorded on the 25th of June by moshcam up on youtube. If you haven't seen Karnivool live, than i strongly recommend you watch the entire 1hr 40min concert, Epic doesnt even begin to describe it

  • where can you get it from?

  • dw lol found it. how do you rip it off the site though???

  • FUCK what is Drew's guitar DOING?

  • dont you just love it when bands can hop on stage and smash the studio version out of the park. some bands where born to play live

  • I know dude, unreal. That's what I tell everyone. This album is probly the best i've heard since... probly 2003-2004

  • @MsKelliemaree I agree...

  • @MsKelliemaree what other bands do u think have been born to play live?

  • @vince1020301 Mammal. Another great Aussie band. Kind of like Australian Rage Against The Machine.

  • @Falling2Grey29 They didn't last very long did they Mammal... shame, I was really diggin' their music :/

  • guitar around 5.50 remind me of opeth

  • Sublime!

  • ozzie prog for life...i cant believe this band is still underground!..its criminal really talented musos like these are second in most peoples minds & millions watch wannabes sing others music & love it..somethings going on???
