I used to have this video. I love this scene when Dave spills the food on the table. I think it could have been the motion of the train that cause him to spill the food. If that was the case he should have brought the food to his 2 customers while the train was stopped. What I don't like about it is that after Dave cleans up the mess they cut away to a shot of the train and we never see Dave giving them new food even though he says he'll be back. It's a great program overall.

I remember this! Dave often loved having those little fantasies which would result in him goofing something up, didn't he? I've always liked the synth sound effects you'd hear (at 0:32 ) during the ripply-transitions to/from Dave's fantasy sequences.

That was probably during pre-Acela express era, the Acela came out in the early 21st century.

Yep, this definitely was the pre-Acela era. But today they still use the Amtrak Superliner trains like the one featured here, but the dining cars were renovated inside them so they look much nicer

Didn't a train almost run over a car at the end? That was the most mind-blowing, nightmarish suspense I'd ever experienced when I was 6.

Yeah, it was intense. I saw it for the first time when I was 22, and I was still gripped by Dave's struggle to stop the train in time. I am glad that everyone survived, or else this video could not possibly be marketed to children, and would never incite so much nostalgia in those 30-odd other comments on this video.

The train was about to hit a stalled Jeep Cherokee. What was funny is that my father pointed out that after Dave saved the people in the Jeep the train just leaves without Dave.

And of course, after that scene and before the credits, they had some railroad museum guy give out some train safety tips, such as mentioning you should never play on railroad tracks. Also, Operation Lifesaver was one of the companies involved with making this video. I bet they had some part in the scene with the car stalled on the tracks.

Then I saw "Sly Fox and Birdie" and finally saw what it looked like when a train hit a car!

At the end of this clip, notice the great K5LA. I grew up on Dave and Becky's "There goes a whatever" videos. I've watched this train one a thousand times. I still remember the end.
