I am a Southerner who is a Baptist but I am not a member of a Southern Baptist assembly. It is sad to hear such heresy from a supposed minister but apostasy is rampant everywhere. I believe in once saved always saved but it doesn't give anyone a license to sin. Anybody that thinks so, as this man does, is lost. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he's a mason too.
I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I think this is a misunderstanding in perspective. Let me ask you this hypothetically, if I was so called "saved", how can or do I then become unsaved? and if I can become "unsaved", was I ever really saved at all? Please answer with the understanding the we have an all knowing God that knows the beginning from the end.
@JesusIsTheTruth619 I think if you understand the message and hold on in faith, God will keep you. If you come in with a different message for whatever reason, you can be deceived into living a sinful lifestyle and believing you're saved. The 1 Cor 5 fornicator is a good example of this. He did repent in the end though because the Corinthians did what was right. I believe it's important to undo these false ideas that lead people to hell. Don't you?
If you are truly saved, then God moves in you, and will protect you from the deceptions your talking about. Your still not realizing that you are preaching "Humanism" and not the power and grace of Christ.
p.s. And no Christians should not be a support party for the sin of homosexuality or any other sin...but yes we should be in support of sharing the Gospel & Gods love to all. And again:
all Christians have the truth:"whoever believe sin Me will not perish but have eternal life" What part of "will not perish" & "have eternal life" do people not comprehend? If its good enough for GOD Himself than it better be good enough for all.
@Alicenotinchains Also, I am going to assume you are a Southern Baptist. The reason we put this video up was not to hurt this person. He sincerely believes what he believes. And we were grateful that he allowed us to demonstrate the problem that we are seeing in mass out on the streets of America. This guy is teaching this stuff. The others are like his son who are flagrantly sinning against a Holy God without any fear. They think God thinks sin is no big deal.
@veraberry p.s. No I'm not...please get over you & put God & His word 1st. No temper tanturms, silly assumptions, etc. I'm a born again Christian, saved for eternity, by faith alone in Jesus alone, & sanctification (incl Holiness) occurs because I'm truly converted & saved...may God bless:)!
@Alicenotinchains p.s.3 Please forgive me my smart allecky tongue...I had not read all you said. I do not know what this guy teaches...but my main focus was on what you shared...again...eternal life is what God says it is eternal. I think you are probably referring to those who say Lord, Lord, but are not really belonging to Jesus?
@Alicenotinchains So many of these people sincerely (and I mean SINCERELY) believe they are born homosexual and know God. This man is under the impression that a practicing homosexual will go to heaven because in his mind, redemption is about belief in Jesus dying for our sins so that we can sin every day and at the end of the day be forgiven. If we had a dime for every time we heard that phrase... What we are trying to do is to show good and honest Christians where these..
@veraberry I believe many need to understand that we are all born in sin & depravity but the new life of Christ allows & command sus to cruicfy flesh b/c we are born again & empowered to do so. I can understand a Christian struggling w/ that sin, but embracing & practicing & not convicted-no-b/c when Gods Spirit indwells He convicts & leads. You cannot continue in sin & not be convicte dif you belong to God. Very sobering; judgement & accountability day, yes.
@Alicenotinchains This man's son believes that he prayed a little prayer once that will get him into heaven no matter what he does or doesn't do. In their minds, Scriptures that say the opposite are discounted for whatever reason because their salvation is assured no matter what. That isn't the message. And the Christians who are sinning at the sexual party events leave everyone else in the dust. You know why? Because they don't worry about it anymore.
@Alicenotinchains They took on Jesus as an insurance policy so that they could sin without worry. This doctrine leads you to that conclusion. You will never fully understand the major problem it is creating until you step out and start sharing Christ at events like Fantasy Fest, Mardi Gras, etc. We thought we were going to lead the heathen to repent. But what we found was the entire church sinning up a storm. Each of them have a different Christian doctrine they use..
Oh my goodness, all Christians have the truth:"whoever believe sin Me will not perish but have eternal life" What part of "will not perish" & "have eternal life" do people not comprehend? If its good enough for GOD Himself than it better be good enough for all. No its not a license to sin & when we truly believe in Jesus alone (not religion~self/good works incl not being a sodomite~etc)God in dwells us & gives us the power to live for Him & a desire. Repentance is evidence of true a Believer.
@Alicenotinchains Please see my note below about sin and what grace does in our lives. Belief in Jesus is not just an intellectual acknowledgement of His existence and that He died for your sins. It is taking hold of Him and being filled with His Spirit. This in turn brought grace and grace is what saves you. Grace is not a free ticket into heaven no matter what you do or don't do. It is God's nature extended to you to set you free. Romans 8 explains it.
@veraberry Thank you dear one...I understand that...and if you read my comments again...the issue is that salvation (true salvation) can be lost...NOT! What GOD says stands true (ETERNAL LIFE). Eternal is just that...eternal. Genuine belief will produce conversion b/c the Spirit of the Lord in habits us & changes. So I'm not disagreeing on santification...but on I think, the false teaching of non-eternal life or eternal security. May God bless.
And not just your actions, but what happens after because we all make mistakes.
Salvation by grace through faith alone isn't a license to sin, it's a gift. How can we be anything but thankful for that gift and because we're thankful we should choose to live a life that gives glory to God's name.
Are you living in a way that is giving glory to his name? God bless.
I think we have to be careful on this topic because the guy is speaking the truth that it is rejecting Christ that will send you to hell because rejecting Christ results in one dying in their sins. We're all alike when it comes to the law, no one is better or worse than anyone else so no attempts at keeping it, or stopping doing certain things will help us get there. Grace and grace alone.
Now, this is where it gets interesting....If a person professes Christ, and yet, has no guilt or...
shame, or conviction, when they participate in the fruits of darkness..like getting drunk, fornication, etc....are they truly saved? Does a truly repentant heart want to continue to live that way?
When one comes to Christ, he places his Spirit within their heart, washing them clean and giving them his righteousness, and new desires. Desires to please God and turn from evil. They may still fall, but that is not what they want to do, nor the road they want to stay on. The Spirit convicts.
@Myhopeisinhim I have found that the Spirit did more than that when I was a baby Christian. He chastened me when I did things that displeased Him. He made it crystal clear that I had to change. Only at the time, I couldn't imagine overcoming just like many others. But that still small voice told me to spend time in the Word daily and that this would help me overcome. To be honest, I didn't get the connection for years.
@Myhopeisinhim And the reason I didn't get the connection was because I was listening to teachers who said that grace was a free ticket into heaven no matter what we do or don't do. These teachers said that you could believe and that was it. That's all it takes, just as this man explains. So when God set me free from sin, can you believe it? I still didn't put two and two together.
Where do you get faith? The Word. We are saved by grace THROUGH FAITH.
@Myhopeisinhim Grace is God's power extended to us along with His nature of love to set us free from sin. It turns the tables on our lives so that we are no longer flesh driven but Spirit led. And that's the message that this teaching this Baptist minister is so vehement about lacks. And it is sending thousands upon thousands of people to hell.
I am really trying to get to a point-we cannot overcome sin. Would not have a good number since there are a lot of people-most whom believe im eternal security of the believer usually falls into this description:They say they are saved by grace and act like they are saved by works.
@daveme7 Works of righteousness do not justify us before God nor can they make us righteous. That's what grace does apart from the law. We confess and repent and then God cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We are born again by His Spirit. He changes our desires. Those actions clear our conscience. We don't willfully sin after we're saved though. We don't do the things God hates because we hate them now too because that's what grace is doing in us apart from the law.
Faith always accompanies works to the point Christ even described faith as a work. Hebvrews 11 is a really good way to see this. Works reveals what is in a person that we cannot judge. We cannot look on the inside-only God can. We can definetly look on the outside. Some ideas I will not be able to get in but yes-we cannot overcome sin. Will email you an answer the next few days so I can be careful and not slipshod in my answer.
@daveme7 I think works are the product of faith if you read it in context. Right? Grace comes through faith. See, I am looking to God's power to be free, not my own. Read 1 John 3, please and tell me what you think again.
I disagree a bit but the ideal is there I think and we get it wrong. Most people whether Baptists or evangelicals seeing salvation as not a restoration in Christ or more concise-We are saved from sin. What is sad is a Baptist preacher preaching to the person who confronted him because of his sins. Bible doctrine does not rest on the behaivor of the adherents. I do think the disagreement is who you are relying on yourself or Christ. With that-I do not think anyone can overcome sin except Christ
On top of that it warns that those that once knew christ will be judged & punished the worst. Where do you think Judas is at right now? He walked with Christ but Jesus Himself called him a son of perdition.Jn 17:12. Now if Jesus could say that of one of His disciples that turned back into sin & died in sin..what makes you think any of you can get off the hook? Grace is not a thing to be spat at. People are walking in deceptions of their own makings. Repent while you are still alive & walk holy.
It is just so sad & shocking to see someone blatantly in sin when they are in a pulpit on Sunday leading other people from committing sin. The whole point of salvation is to "turn away or convert" from the sinful, natural, carnal man. You cannot take part of the gospel & ignore the rest thinking you can do premeditated sin & think you are still under grace. All throughout the bible it warns about backsliding. It says from OT to NT that if you die in your sins you go to hell.
...wow, so many unbiblical sayings and defenses of sin in one video---I've found so far in my slight preaching that the south is one of the hardest places to preach. The professing Christians are the worst because they ruin the preaching of the Gospel for the lost by riling up the unbelievers with worldly rhetoric and knowledge of about 5-10 verses. The above video is an example of this. It doesn't change... wake up professing Christians, read your Scriptures on your OWN! God bless preacher
This man may be standing behind a pulpit but he is no preacher or minister of the Bible. He misrepresents many Bible believing southern Baptists who are not OSAS. And yes they do exist. Good job rebuking him with the Word of God.Keep doing God's work. Hope to see you soon.
Brothers, God bless you. Paul statement is no one will enter haven without holiness, so let your lits sine before tis evil world, our life of faith and in Chris condemns the wold. Bless you
wow. you kow, doug, you and I disagree on eternal security, which is fine,. But this gentleman just says one silly thing after another. What ever hapened to "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them"?
@av1611preacher Just to add one more thing to what Doug said, we stay in Christ by grace through faith. Our "action" or part to play is faith. We believe that what good we are is coming to us by His power. We take hold of that power to be free from sin. That's what grace does and that grace is only available to those on this side of the cross. We who live in this time are predestined to that privilege.
@veraberry - This is actually a good video. It is apparent this ordained minister needs to study up on his Bible some more. Unrepented sin is judged. Our lives should be a course of sin (which none can avoid entirely) and quick repentance. I believe in eternal security. That is, God is sovereign to save all He came for. But not all who claim to be "Christian" are Christians (Jn 10; Mat 7:23). At the accepting, that is when the real work for the Christian begins.
