Mo Lewis was a great LB for the Jets. That was one of the best hits ever right there. WTF was Bledsoe thinking lowering his shoulder into a savage like Mo? Thats what you get...
when bledsoe started brady was the best backup when brady started bledsoe was the best backup. I'm a colts fan but i am happy that he got his respect and love from the patriots fans. i hate mo lewis because he indirectly started tom brady
Wanna see Bill Belichik not get worried lol? Take out his starting QB. Bledsoe out...SB. Brady out...11-5. Also...people forget his playoff run in Cleveland was with the backup (although the starter wasn't suddenly injured iirc)
I have been a Patriots fan since 1980. It's been a bumpy bandwagon kids. I never expected to see them win a Superbowl. Bledsoe was the best QB we had ever had. It's funny reading people screaming about bandwagon fans when that's all I've ever seen when teams like Miami, Oakland, San Francisco, etc were good. People I know who were fans of those teams have tried to jump on the Patriots bandwagon, I call them out on it every time.
@Beagle1107 no, brady wouldve taken over eventually anyway, they just expedited the process and ruined their entire future in the afc east for that decade.
I hated Drew Bledsoe soooo much - I cheered when Mo Knocked him out- I didnt know who was gonna come in but i knew they were gonna be better then Drew-
@xxpurrfectgirlxx, for fuck's sake Bledsoe may not have been an elite QB, but he's still a person. The dude had to be rushed to the hospital due to severe internal bleeding. He could have died, and at the very least this hit seriously decreased his quality of living. Wanting him to be benched would be one thing, but, while big hits are part of the game, anyone who actually cheered when he (or anyone) got knocked out is a real piece of shit.
@BarackSays Really? Per Albert Breer - "Bledsoe only had a QB rating of over 85 twice -- 87.7 in '97, 86.0 in '02. And he completed 60% of his passes in just 4 of 13 seasons. And as it turns out, 1 of those 4 seasons was 2001, when he played in 2 games. Only once in 8 full NE seasons was he over 60%. Yikes."
I was going to tell you how wrong you were -- that the only fans who would forget are probably young or bandwagon -- but then I read some of these idiotic comments. Sigh.
Shame really, hits like this happen all the time, but you're really unlucky if a blood vesel pops...this could happen to any running back or scrambling QB today
I think Mo should give the HOF introduction speech when Brady gets enshrined. This hit was as important as any other factor in the building of that dynasty.
@808state909: Yeah, that's real talk. Bledsoe was trying to look tough. Not a knock on him as a QB though as he was pretty good. Mo Lewis is just too strong.
This is the only video I could find of any of Week 2, 2001. But I remember thinking that was the end of the PATS for a long time. I was in 6th grade when I saw that happen. However, it wasn't until about week 12 that I started to change my feeling about that season. Then we finally won a Super Bowl. Good job, PATS. :D
@matthez Dude, you realize that since he has all the fame and fortune, he became a giant pussy right?
Watch when he gets hit by the Ravens. He ALWAYS puts his hands up for a flag, and there are some times where he only gets run into by a player that was PUSHED.
@VPrimeTimeV thats not true...he only did that once last year...that was a isolated situation...hasnt done it before nor since and also what dimwited fans like you dont remember is that before tearing a knee up in 08 he had started 7 stright seoson and hasnt missed a game since then...and last december he played with a broken rib and finger....seriosly you should shut the fuck before you say somthing stupid like that
and im pretty sure you guys still had cheating shit up your sleeve. They should've EXPELLED Bellicheat from the Leauge. What happened to Marion Jones after she got caught cheating in the Olympics? They took away her gold medals! What about Bellicheck? They fine his ass 500k. They didn't even take away the tapes right away anyway. Roger Goodell's worst mistake.
@VPrimeTimeV 2010 Patriots have the best record in the league with a bunch of rookies playing, Brady is having another MVP season, and Belicheck may be coach of the year. You don't have to like them, but name a coach and QB combination better than Belicheck in the last 10 years. After spygate the man continues to coach at a high level. By the way Marion Jones got drafted and plays in the WNBA at the age of 35.
@randombuffalo Yeah it turned out to be a good thing but I bet all Patriot fans were panicing when Bledsoe went down. He was one of the best QB's at that time.
Mo Lewis was a great LB for the Jets. That was one of the best hits ever right there. WTF was Bledsoe thinking lowering his shoulder into a savage like Mo? Thats what you get....
@TheUnassisted42 idk what everybody is talking about like it was a monster hit, look at moe when he hits him. he didnt even hit him that hard or looked like he was even trying to crush him. it was one of those unlucky hits where you just get hit in the wrong spot. yes bledsoe shouldve saw that and just dove out of bounds of somthing but watch it again. moe didnt even hit him that hard...
@chase21322 I have to correct myself...the hit was so soft, it only caused internal bleeding in Drew's lung, not broken ribs. He sheared a blood vessel from a love tap.
@chase21322 like i said kid, it was a hit where you just get hit in the wrong spot. watch lewis when he was running for him, literally i couldve hit bledsoe harder then that...
@Fizano55 The sad thing about how you're viewing this hit is comparing it to all the crushing helmet to helmet hits you're seeing nowadays. This was a legit, get your a** out of bounds, wtf are you thinking by challenging me hit. So much better.
@Fizano55 First of all, Im not dude. Second, if you watch where Drew was positioned, the angle Mo came at him, saw the other Jets defender behind him and keeping the hit "clean", it was about a perfect of a hit you'll find. Pause it right when Mo lowers the shoulder, beautiful timing and perfect hit.
I will go back in time to stop Mo Lewis from injuring Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady never plays, then he gets traded to Buffalo instead of Bledsoe. Then Brady sucks because he is on Buffalo, the Patriots will also suck, the Dolphins get murdered by the Japs in the South Park episode "Whale Whores" and the Jets automatically win the conference every year.
i recall reading before bledsoe came along the PATRIOTS SUCKED (as they still do) and brady being the best qb of all time how bout the super bowl against the giants your boy wonder couldnt save you. I SAY GO STEELERS AND THANK YOU DREW FOR A CAREER OF CLASSY FOOTBALL. WISH YOU WOULD HAVE PLAYED IN PITTSBURGH
oh im sorry... i guess 1 minute left in the superbowl against the giants defense is enough for a comeback? yeahhhh.. tom brady sucks so much ....he lost a game...damnnnnn hes soo bad..
@MrBlue11900 Yeah im butthurt because im stating the truth and your dumb ass is still 2 years behind talking about SB XLII and not XLIV gettin ready or this season.
@MrBlue11900 wait who are you? i remember sharing my PC with my brother for the summer and i sign in to a bunch of random mail? wow what did he say to?
I am a Steelers fan but bledsoe was one of the best qbs i ever saw. he had a cannon for an arm, he has 10x the class that the bitch brady will ever have. yeah he threw costly ints but if he had a better team it would have helped.
fuck tom brady. bledsoe could have taken that team deep in the playoffs for years to come. most of those guys who became part of the 'dynasty' gelled at the right time in 2001...
At least Bledsoe had class and twice the arm brady will ever have. I can bet you anything if that was brady he wuda ran out of bounds or slid at least bledsoe tried fighting for the 1st down
Brady is better then Bledsoe Brady can kick Bledsoe ass any day but I do fell bad for that hit Bledsoe had he almost died & he help da pats win de AFC Championship game in 2001
yeah we won 3 Super Bowls with Brady (awesomeness) but Bledsoe is still my favorite QB of all time. Dude could sling it all over the field. Drew Pats fans still love ya man! :-D
Bledsoe eased up and Mo didn't. If Bledsoe had leaned in a little more, both of them would've been on the ground. I saw Drew hand off and throw a block that sent a linebacker to the ground.
Don't forget he got up and went back into the game for another play as his lung was filling with blood.
Drew Bledsoe was an amazing QB, was more accurate than Brady, could throw the ball faster than Brady, and could throw the ball further than Brady. I dont get why all you Patriots fans cheer, Bledsoe still brought you guys an AFC championship 2 times,
Ehh, you're kinda right. Bledsoe, was great. But look at the raw stats. He's not as accurate as Brady and Brady doesn't throw as many picks as Bledsoe did. Whether he can throw the ball farther or not I think is irrelevant. I think at one of those Pro Bowl side competition things, Brady threw the ball almost 70 yards. How far does one need to be alble to throw the ball? I'll settle for 65 or 70 yards. I liked Bledsoe, didn't want to see him get hurt, but Brady is just the better QB overall.
Say What!!!That's like comparing Joe Montana to Tony Eason!Drew had his chance and threw 4(four)!!!!picks against Green Bay in SB 31...Without Brady they DON"T have any rings!Bledsoe would've done something stupid as always.Good riddance!!!
to be fair to drew that green bay defense was unstoppable, same thing in super 20, the Bears D was not gonna be denied. But Drew deserves credit, along with parcells the patriots would not have 3 rings if it wasnt for those two individuals
They weren't unstoppable....it was 24-20 Packers when Desmond Howard sealed the game with his kickoff return.
The Patriots had a big chance to win the game, Parcells was more concerned about his Jets contract than the game.
Green Bay's D was incredible, but the Pats put up 20 points against it before Desmond Howard put the game away. Patriots were in the game but just didn't have enough energy to win
Spy Gate changed Patriots history, their records will go FOREVER tarnished. FUCK Belicheat.

He's pretty tall. Brady is about 6'4 and Drew is taller than him.

I am a Steelers fan but bledsoe was one of the best qbs i ever saw. he had a cannon for an arm, he has 10x the class that the bitch brady will ever have. yeah he threw costly ints but if he had a better team it would have helped.
yanks3202 2 years ago
fuck tom brady. bledsoe could have taken that team deep in the playoffs for years to come. most of those guys who became part of the 'dynasty' gelled at the right time in 2001...
fastmandan88 2 years ago
At least Bledsoe had class and twice the arm brady will ever have. I can bet you anything if that was brady he wuda ran out of bounds or slid at least bledsoe tried fighting for the 1st down
bballmike52 2 years ago
thank god for this play
chasefui88 2 years ago
Brady is better then Bledsoe Brady can kick Bledsoe ass any day but I do fell bad for that hit Bledsoe had he almost died & he help da pats win de AFC Championship game in 2001
resdsox1 2 years ago
yeah we won 3 Super Bowls with Brady (awesomeness) but Bledsoe is still my favorite QB of all time. Dude could sling it all over the field. Drew Pats fans still love ya man! :-D
eastiemetalhead 2 years ago
I agree! I have my Bledsoe Jersey. Will NEVER get rid of it.
ApocalypseKurtz 2 years ago
-_- Mo Lewis created the pats dynasty
Synicaalescape 2 years ago
Bledsoe eased up and Mo didn't. If Bledsoe had leaned in a little more, both of them would've been on the ground. I saw Drew hand off and throw a block that sent a linebacker to the ground.
Don't forget he got up and went back into the game for another play as his lung was filling with blood.

Drew Bledsoe was an amazing QB, was more accurate than Brady, could throw the ball faster than Brady, and could throw the ball further than Brady. I dont get why all you Patriots fans cheer, Bledsoe still brought you guys an AFC championship 2 times,
connorqb17 2 years ago
Ehh, you're kinda right. Bledsoe, was great. But look at the raw stats. He's not as accurate as Brady and Brady doesn't throw as many picks as Bledsoe did. Whether he can throw the ball farther or not I think is irrelevant. I think at one of those Pro Bowl side competition things, Brady threw the ball almost 70 yards. How far does one need to be alble to throw the ball? I'll settle for 65 or 70 yards. I liked Bledsoe, didn't want to see him get hurt, but Brady is just the better QB overall.
MattOuellette88 2 years ago
Say What!!!That's like comparing Joe Montana to Tony Eason!Drew had his chance and threw 4(four)!!!!picks against Green Bay in SB 31...Without Brady they DON"T have any rings!Bledsoe would've done something stupid as always.Good riddance!!!
ckandrut 2 years ago
to be fair to drew that green bay defense was unstoppable, same thing in super 20, the Bears D was not gonna be denied. But Drew deserves credit, along with parcells the patriots would not have 3 rings if it wasnt for those two individuals
beatleboy9020001 2 years ago
They weren't unstoppable....it was 24-20 Packers when Desmond Howard sealed the game with his kickoff return.
The Patriots had a big chance to win the game, Parcells was more concerned about his Jets contract than the game.
Green Bay's D was incredible, but the Pats put up 20 points against it before Desmond Howard put the game away. Patriots were in the game but just didn't have enough energy to win
