FUCKING EPIC it works 1st do the regedit part then when deleted it in regedit (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\M­ICROSOFT\WINDOWS\NT\CURRENT VERSION\WIN LOGON\NOTIFY) reboot pc and go to start computer local disk where windows is saved double click (WINDOWS) double click (SYSTEM32) then delete wgatray.exe and wgatray.dll then u r done

Maybe due to the recent update, but there is no wgatray.exe, there is no dll cache folder. There is no notify in regedit either.

I did not work at all,

1in safe mode or normal mode, It will not allow to remove the wgalogon with .exe or any other feature that you are asking me to do. I dont have control panel or my computer features. I found Windows 32,opened it 7 found the icons you said but will not allow it to be removed, even when CrTRL Alt delete, it still comes back even if securityis put on hold from microsoft's end.

@7071t6 if it says you cant delete it because its already in use i had the same issue, what i had to do is keep the task manager up. then click the exe file and hit delete. then really quickly run over to the task manager and end the program. that worked for me just fine.

This works great and it took about 5 min. ga app and toolbar were active in my safe mode too so i couldn't delete the wgatray file initially (in use). delete the folder in the registry first and you can go back to the Win32 folder and clean up after start up if you want. NOTE: I didn't see the dllcache file anywhere. Thanks!

For XP users, follow the steps in reverse i.e. firstly regedit and delete wgalogon folder then delete "...system32\wgatray.exe" and "..system32\wgalogon.exe" .

if you can't find the 'dllcache' folder (i never did) you can still access it by typing it into the address bar after the system32..

so it'll look like: 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache'

then hit enter and you should be able to find the other wgatray.exe file to delete

So, I got the whole "This copy of xp isn't real" thing yesterday. Instead of removing the validation thing altogether, I basically stopped it from telling me I'm running possibly counterfeit software. Is there anything bad that might happen from letting it continue to see it's not a valid copy, or should I not worry?
