I grew up with Irish folk music but in my teens got rabbit in my feet and travelled a lot. I always looked for local folk in france germany canada and usa, it took a long time to realise that the first taste of folk music,by that I mean the Irish scene was by far the best of the bunch, with american folk , (dylan judy collins joan bz etc ,particularly west coast being a good second, dubliners fureys and many others , you wont get better folk music anywhere....
Not being sexist I always associated this song with women Kristy Mc Coll(RIP) was a fantastic artist but a man singinng it and a man with form, destroy a fella, again! Written by a Dad about hs daughter and then she died young, for f*ck sake
I was happy to see that kristy maccoll did a version of this song she was so talented and beautiful it makes me happy to see lukes songs (i know he didn't write it) done by artists like her and the pogues now a nother generation has gone by and i hope to help bring these songs to my generation it would be great his music will never die long live ireland scotland the dubliners folk music punk rock celebration heartache and all things human
This man put Ireland on the map in every way. He can never and will never be replaced or equalled. Is men like Luke that this country is lacking. RIP Luke and may heaven be filled with ur endless talent.
imagine if his kind was around today, he would go un-noticed. he is and was a legend....radio stations should play this stuff instead of the crap they do. well done for all the uploads of luke the master
His diction was unreal, every word pronounced perfectly clear and projected so well, can't think of a single song where you couldn't understand every word of every line on first listen without having to rewind...on a par with Bing Crosby (purely in terms of diction, not drawing comparisons)
as my 7 yr old daughter wud say O.M.G haha my gf is gone home 4 xmas its me and luke all d way and wit tunes like dat ill never b lonely ..........by d way i do hav friends there just all in oz....sing it up lukey
