why do these videos always take place in a waerhouse with people driving forklifts? I've been a drummer in a band and worked in warehuses driving forklifts. I have never had either cross paths....
@jpb219 Isn't it funny how we are both thinking the exact same thing. I LOVE Journey, but don't care to ever see them again with Arnel as front man. Steve A was way better than Arnel. Now, this guy would have made a great front man. Glad to know someone else thinks this too.
Too funny that David Glenn Eisley was singing songs for Spongebob Squarepants a number of years ago. He also appeared in a Brian Bosworth movie. Great song though.
Bought a compilation album of 80's hair metal bands and this tune was on it. I forgot how great a song it was, video's fruity but what 80's video wasn't?
It's a really powerful ballad..especially at the end....I feel this way about my Sharon...brutally taken away from us in March 99...RIP baby....You will be loved by me to the day I die.
@icspi1970 I think his voice is better than Steve Perry. Unfortunately, the media didn't agree thinking there was too much artists trying to be Steve Perry. Too bad, I think him and this song rocks!!!
OK, I'm 33 years old (so I was kid during the MTV heyday). I never heard of this group until listening to Sirius Hair Nation (and I'm huge fan of the LA scene...the best band out of Seattle is Queensryche as far as I'm concerned). I'm so hooked on this song! Who can tell me about this group. BTW, is that Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (of Steely Dan and the Doobie Bros.) around 2:50 - 2:55 (the dude at the second table with glasses and sporting the beret and moustache)????
I normally don't do the girly hair, makeup, tight spandex suits and cheesy lyrics thing, but I can't stop fucking listening to this song. 80s rock ballads are my guilty pleasure.
Way to go Giuffria VETO!!! I love alot of your videos. And WOW to go back as far as Giuffria thats amazing. You brought back soooo many memories to me w/ a member from ANGEL. I LOVE IT!! Hope to hear and see more : )
1984-85 was such a huge year for music. This was a very good song, but it was overshadowed due to so many other great songs. If this had come out a few years earlier or later, it probably would have been a bigger hit.
When this first got released, many peopel thought it was a new song by Journey. The GOOD news is that singer David Glenn Eisley will soon be entering the studo to record a new album, possibly teaming up again with Gregg Giuffria! So far, it is planned to be a DGE solo album, but who knows how it may evolve. Time will tell.
So many of you are right! Back in the 80's was a great time and decade to live in. Concerts were unbelievable and affordable, I once saw RATT, Twisted Sister, Fastway and Mamas Boyz for $10 bucks!!! Man what a time it was back in those days!
I miss this song a LOT. This takes a lot of us back to the days when all we had to do was stay out late, party all night and not give a damn about...well, anything. Also...that is the ugliest video model ever. I don't know why he's singing for her, he can do a LOT better. =)
Woooooohoooooooooo...back when guys looked like girls and we girls LOVED it. Bring back the tight, tight spandex, big hair and eyeliner. One hot band and one hot song. What a set of pipes on the frontman. I want it all back ; )
@frank14753 You have no idea how much fun that time was! It seemed like everyone got along, everybody dressed up to go out to clubs and hear a million dif bands. We had extra hour for the bars on Fri and Sat...they didn't close here in CT until 3AM. DUI was unheard of. Concerts were general admin and we partied our butts off inside the concert areanas. No trouble ever happened and life was sooooooooooooo good back then. Big bands even played little bars if in town. GOOD times ; )
This song is one of the many reason I will continue to subscribe to Sirius Radio. Love me some Hair Nation, Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind and the many, many other rcok stations including the 70's and 80's stations. Today's singers all sound the same and they never ever make a mistake or note slip thanks to the wonderful electronics available to the masses today.
remake with modern sound? you mean like all of the crap out now? I don't want autotuned music/vocals, that's for all of the posers nowadays who can't play or sing. Why the music industry is dying a slow death.
@headalphafemale : Are you kidding?!, This song does not need to be remade, If they remake it, they'll just butcher it with obvious autotuned vocals, and synthesisers that fail to show Character.
Gregg and his band hit #15 in Billboard, 2-2-85. Actually, David Eisley sang, 'Call to YOUR heart.' God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week.
he was always a good steve perry type singer. wish gregg never broke them up, but mca wasn't doing anything for them. i liked house of lords but wish dave was the singer. give me the 80's music over practically anything released today!
Craig Goldy's solo on this song is a testament that sometimes, less is more. A perfect compliment that doesn't overpower the melody of the song, rather it keeps it flowing nicely. This song flew under the radar compared to a lot of releases of the era but it stands the test of time nicely.
@Doobie1975 ---The only way your hear it is on the special request shows....definitely my favorite ballad from the day,no doubt. If you broke up with a chick in 85,you cranked this song....I miss those days.
@DRpretorius39 I always thought this power ballad deserves to be up there with the great power ballads like Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is", Whitesnake's "Is This Love", Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and Journey's "Faithfully", instead this ballad seems to have fallen into obscurity, this song reminds me of a girl who I really liked and sadly me and her went separate ways and I would give anything in the world to have her back in my life again
@Doobie1975 --- I hear ya! I was in 9th grade when this came out and I was with this girl in Florida and I had to move back north and I would kill to have her back today.....
@Doobie1975 I couldn't agree with you more, that Giuffria was underated then and now. I remember when this song came out I thought is was Steve Perry. I believe that since thier sound is so close to Journey that they were not considered worthy, just my thoughts. Remember the group Zebra, three man band out of Canada, sounded very similar to Rush, they went by the wayside as well.
@Vinvilland I Googled Randy Jackson and he was from New Orleans where Zebra was formed. They went North to Long Island to cut their teeth on the rock scene there. They were big into covering Zeppelin with Jackson's high vocal range.
@texs2007 I thought this song was a fairly big hit when it came out peaking at #15, there are some slightly lower charting hit songs of the 80s I still hear on the oldies stations today, I also think the classic rock stations should play this song cause it also went #3 on the Rock charts
@Doobie1975 Of course,it's hard to play on Radio when the record company hasn't re-released it on some sort of CD,like a best of or greatest hits deal.
@Doobie1975 if you have never heard this on the radio then you must live in an electronic free zone. it's one of the biggest hits of the 80s my friend.
@DJohRicky I'm born in 1980 and don't remember any moment of my life prior to 1985, I didn't even know this song existed until I've seen it on some compilation album back in the late 1990s, I live in a small deserted town

I remember when this song came out. I was so in love with April, my high school sweetheart. My heart was broken when she moved to Florida. This song really hit the spot at that time. I wonder where she is now.
And ppl say Randy Rhoads is dead.. Lol than how the hell did he get in this video? The keyboard and guitar players look like Randy

I remember when this song came out. I was so in love with April, my high school sweetheart. My heart was broken when she moved to Florida. This song really hit the spot at that time. I wonder where she is now.

I love '80s music, but let's face it, this is horrible. This makes Beavis spit his soda out.
