I read an article in "Today's Chicago Woman" magazine and from that piece I got the sense that these two women were both friends. I don't know where this idea that these two hate each other came from. Also, I hear that Kathy is a nice person off camera so I also don't know where this idea of bitchiness came from.
I love both Kathy and Cheryl. I think people just automatically assume they don't like each other because they are the two main women anchors so that must mean they are bitter rivals. They are two different people with different personalities is all.
That's not it at all, they just seem to not have chemistry with eachother on air. The way Kathy replied to Cheryl made it seem as if she was saying "Whatever, Cheryl, nobody cares. Cubs won, therefore we're happy."
Kathy's not going anywhere. The only reason they made Cheryl "contributing anchor" was because she's black. Of course Kathy's not elated to have to share with her, but in reality, so does Ron Magers. But I can see why u think it's just a female thing. I also think Kathy's a little bitchy, and that smile of hers at the end of this clip made me gag. But she's a damn good anchor, much better than Cheryl who'd still be on weekends if Diann Burns didn't leave.
I like both Kathy and Cheryl and I like how the 10pm newscast includes both of them and Ron. I like them both better than Diann Burns on the newscast. I think its easy to say they don't like each other but I have seen them get along well on other newscasts together.

Oh for sure....These women rarely work together 1 on 1.. I dont think anyone here likes the title Co-Anchor. Until Linda Yu retires, There's gonna be a logjam with these women. Gotta be tough for them both.. to be in direct competition with each other and have to smile through it all.. If you look real close, You can see tiny daggers flying back and forth.
But on the other hand, Maybe what Kathy is reacting to is Burtons weak attempt at ending the newscast. Im wondering if the producers were screaming in her ear to pull the plug on Burtons wacky Pinella theory.. ( Sorry Cheryl, You know your my gurl! )

And actually to tell you the truth, I kinda find Cheryl a bit annoying myself because she always brings her hands together, than brings the left one out...than together than right, than both, than together...than left whenever she stands to introduce her story @ 10 b4 the 1st break...She's also not very good with the small-talk that goes on between stories.
I know what you mean. I've also noticed she's so formal in her live field reports like she's reading a script and doesn't seem to like impromptu questions.

I think Cheryl is a pretty good anchor and so is Kathy, but I think that Kathy's attitude is a little bitchy if you ask me.
