I'm so happy i'm getting back into riding... was jumping 4'6" or so with a 2 1/2 to 3 yr experience. And had a 3 to 4 yr break because of school. Even though I'm in the US I'd either be on the USET or South Africa Team depending where I go for college. (: But I'd need sponsors to afford my own horse.

iv been around horses since i was 4 but sparingly and in the past year iv had weekly lessons in western (english riding but western saddle >xp) and im having my first lesson english today i bought breeches and english boots. I hope to some day soon get into jumping. wish me luck :)

@xJessieRuex Small isn't what you want in a good jumper, especially for the Olympics. It doesn't matter how powerful they are for an Olympic Jumper you need to have the leg length behind it or the jumps could not be easily cleared. I believe the majority of Olympic jumpers are Warmbloods and possibly TBs

To answer the question how do they do that? Is hard work and having the willpower to go for victory plus giving up ur life to training everyday for 6 hours or more on many different horses it take years of practice and commitment and financially it isn't the most forgiving.

I'm a jummper myself and they may make it LOOK easy, but there is sooooooo much you have to think about. The strides, aiming, getting up at the right time, not too early and certently not to late. You have to make sure the horse lands on the right stride. But all and all the thrill of getting out there in front of hundreds is exilerating and you never want it to end.
