  • Death Cab reminds me so much of Andrew from Chronicle, especially this song. Amazing.

  • To me best song on Codes & Keys, next to Home is a Fire, by far

  • He may write better lyrics when he's depressed but you shouldn't wish that upon anyone even if it means better lyrics...

  • This reminds me of a girl. A girl I met a few weeks ago. She's exactly like me. How her mind works, how she sees the world. We both share the same interests. I fell in love with her.

  • whats a sycamore???

  • @jakers830 google

  • @jakers830 It's a type of tree dude.

  • @jakers830 Look at the music video and you'll find out~

  • Dear fans who are bitching about it being to happy: Gibbard or whoever and Zooey are divorcing so... look for depressing shit soon, I guess.

  • I hope the next album is less cheery, Gibbard writes way better songs when he sounds depressed.

  • This song is amazing!

  • i honestly think codes and keys is one of my favorite albums by dcfc. it's different, and that's what i like about it. great band.

  • So I got this song for free from starbucks.

    I still don't regret it (:

  • Amazing song. Why doesn't this have more plays tho? and why is death cab always nominated for the same category for the grammys. No album of the year? not even song of the year for "You are a tourist". Wow. Can't wait for the next album. I hope they always keep making music

  • his vocal lines in this song remind me of The Killers lol. great song though!

  • @MinorEclipse213 I was just thinking the same, what song you talking about? I cant figure it out lol or u just talking in general lol

  • we are the same we are both safe underneath the sycamore :D

  • This might be their strongest work to date.

  • imo, this song is like the Brothers on A Hotel Bed of this album (if that even makes sense). He's saying the same thing over and over again

  • This song is the bee's knees.

  • i love this song makes me cry :S

  • Anyone who dislikes the new album isn't a true Death cab fan. Song is amazing I could sing to it all day.

  • I shouldn't really comment but I just have the need to say that I really love this song <3

  • They're older, and happier. Also, this is a *new* album; you wouldn't ask a painter to keep painting the same picture would you? Let them grow, as you have.

  • This video is most popular with males that are 25-34. It would be pretty awkward for me, a 14 year old guy, going to a Death Cab concert and being probably the only one my age, but I love this band and theyre not gonna be around forever. Come to Boston Death Cab!!(:

  • @coortiz1 im 42, dcfc is one of my favorites, and i dont care how old you are. any age can appreciate GOOD music. there is so little of it out there nowdays. glad you have your head on straight

  • @coortiz1 Hey, I'm 15 and I went to one of their concerts. Yeah, you're going to be one of the younger ones there, but you aren't going to be the only one in your age group. Just bring a friend (or two, or three, or as many as you can stuff in a car) and you'll be fine. Trust me, it's not something you want to miss. :)

  • @coortiz1 i went when i was 16 and there were a bunch of young kids.

  • When you're married to Zooey Deschanel, it's pretty hard to come up with anything but happy lyrics.

  • @LuminescentWolf they are getting a separation actually

  • @mully1808 I know :( I found out as soon as it happened. I posted that before that happened. **sigh** They were such a great couple.

  • @LuminescentWolf ha, their next album will probably be extremely depressing then

  • @LuminescentWolf they got divorced

  • @LuminescentWolf Are they going to have sad songs now that Zoey filed a divorce?

  • @LuminescentWolf not anymore :\

  • @LuminescentWolf WAIT, WHAT?

  • i am the 9,999th viewer!! hell yea!!

  • Okay, it's like this... I'm a huge Slayer/Pantera type dude, and I'm 30... This is MUSIC. Absolutely unbelievably amazing. I used to avoid DCFC for no good reason. If you have any idea of what it takes to make good music I promise you will love this band and come to your senses like I did...

  • didnt like some of the songs on this album at first(no clue why), but like with some of their albums, the more i listen to them, the more i like them. i love everything theyve done

  • This is what happens when DCFC are firing on all cylinders. The melody is amazing, the rhythm section is tight and punchy, and that chorus hook is one of the band's catchiest yet. This is an instant classic.

  • @MegaCrasher3000 Exactly, and then you weren't even talking about the sublime middle section starting at 2:13 -gets me every time

  • @MegaCrasher3000

    You know your music :)

  • I totally agree with @WithLoveFromKay Its a great album, and I am a dcfc fan.. To the bone. They've stuck to their roots - Making music regardless of what it's "supposed" to sound like

  • I hope this is the next single, cause if it is, it's going to be huge

  • i loveeeee you.

  • I think this album is great! I don't think they could ever really disappoint me. I love them too much to dislike an album. Yes it's different but still wonderful. It takes a few times listening through the album to adjust to the new sound but then it's love as usual. My favorite band of all time. :)

  • @shinds same here man!

  • this is the most beautiful song EVER

  • LOVE this song! Love Codes and Keys! Love Death Cab forever ♥

  • @girlinabluehat They have been mine for years.

  • love'in this album so far. Its a nice different twist but it still has some of that awesome, reconizable, iconic dcfc sound.

  • Death Cab for Cutie will always be gold no matter what they produce. <3

  • @hanarama1992 my fave band <3

  • Fuccccccccccck love this song

  • Ahhh love sooo much!

  • I love most of this album. The first few songs aren't as good (in my opinion), but its still amazing.

  • What the haters don't understand: New, different songs doesn't mean the old ones are gone.

  • I wonder why they're posting them on youtube. Not that I'm complaining.

  • "old" Death Cab, "new" Death Cab, it's all great.

  • aww Ben Gibbard sounds happy :)

  • @fullmetal78745

i know eh!?!?! i love it

  • Love the song, the album, the band. Changed or not, I'm a loyal fan. It's life, guys.

  • It isn't about change or "something new". I'm all for artists progressing and moving forward and changing their sound... but if you move in the wrong direction, or move in a blatantly obvious backwards trajectory in terms of musical complexity or taste, then it just simply sucks. This album simply sucks. It's shit. Gone are the Facts/Photo/Trans days... even Narrow Stairs is infinitely better than Codes and Keys. For the record, I think every member of the band has gotten better except Ben.

  • @tehJESSEH See, I get what you're saying, but I just have to disagree, because I think they changed, definitely, but the song is not bad. I sadly haven't heard any others from this album, but as for this song, I like the new DCFC.

  • who knows, maybe they'll make a sadder album next time...we're supposed to grow with the band and their sound

  • best one off the album.

  • ...and this is when death cab falls apart...

    sad day.

  • @reclusexx

What are you talking about? This song has every element of a great DCFC song - dark lyrics (it's about a grizzly car wreck for chrissakes), sweet melody, awesome rhythm ... how can you be a fan and not love this one?

  • Can't wait to see you guys in ottawa on Sunday!

  • agread! best song off Codes and Keys.

  • This is my favorite song off the new album.

It's weird how you guys have changed, yet you're the same.

  • Favorite song off the new album for sure

  • love it

  • lovelovelove.

  • <3 this song. its so positive. it lifted my spirit for the day. thank you death cab c:

  • so many dcfc fans are disliking codes and keys but to be honest i think its kinda nice to hear something new, after all we all change and grow up. their lives are looking up and this is why their album is so upbeat. if i'm feelin mellow i'll listen to their old albums and when i'm feeling content i reach for codes and keys

  • @WithLoveFromKay Most of the people disliking it don't understand how much DCFC has changed from their roots. You Play These Songs with Chords (an LP Ben Gibbard made as a solo project then later released with DCFC) is my favorite and it sounds vastly different than Codes and Keys, Narrow Stairs, etc. The thing is most people began listening to DCFC when Plans came out and that was another musical change. If people would just listen to everything they have to offer :/

  • @WithLoveFromKay I feel the same way. I think Codes and Keys was a beautifully brilliant album.

  • @WithLoveFromKay

last night there was a horrible storm in ottawa ontario. the main stage collapsed there were injuries. everyone was evacuated. death cab was supposed to play at 9:30. The storm hit at 7 ish. My night was ruined.. now i'm listening to this song and i want to cry so bad.

  • @WithLoveFromKay That sucks so bad. Do you follow their twitter? @dcfc Nick said "Thanks to all the great fans here in Ottawa for understanding how sad and scary today was... We will be back, we will figure out a way."

  • @abcdefghijkati3

Yeah I saw ben's twitter, he said they'll be back as soon as its possible on their schedules but who knows when that will be :( i'm happy they are safe though. i'm not so happy with mother nature though.

  • @WithLoveFromKay I don't even see Codes and Keys as being entirely different :) And I 100% agree with you about the mellow and content <3

  • @WithLoveFromKay I don't understand why anybody hates it.

It's just as freakamazing as anything and everything else they've done. and I'll still be listening to them when they're 96. yeah. can't wait for them to come to houston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @WithLoveFromKay very well said

  • @WithLoveFromKay couldn't agree any more

  • @DustinHalupa22

    i'm glad you agree!

I will always love death cab, my all time fav band <333

  • This song is confident and atmospheric

  • logon and see a whole new album await me :D

  • i love it

  • Love this song, one of my favorites off the album

  • @HelpfullScape

    same :)

  • Well this is a great song.
