  • great record! I always enjoyed Asmussen's small groups

  • Absolutely the best jazz violin player in the world.

  • This recording is very rare! Svend Asmussen is singing and playing violin. Jørgen Ingmann is on guitar. Svend was Stephane Grappelli's favorite fiddler. He was prevented from joining Benny Goodman's band by the Musician Union's rules requiring that he live in the U.S. a year before he could join the union. This meant he could not play music in the U.S. for a year. So he continued to work as an entertainer on cruise ships, and become famous in Scandinavia as a musician and actor.

  • Recorded Stockholm, January 23, 1947.

  • Best Jazz violin player!

  • Wonderful record ! *****

  • Musikglädje när den är som bäst! Heja Svend!

  • Svend Asmussen and Stéphane Grappelli are two of the world's best known jazz violonists. Benny Goodman visited Copenhagen (in 198x) and then he invited Svend as one of his guests. They played a few astonishing tunes together. It is worthwhile coming across a copy of that recording...
