Carwin has made ALL his opponents look like pussies lol. Brock did beat him but all he did was get his ass handed to him and take Carwin down in the 2nd round. Hell Brock couldn't take Carwin down when they were both fresh, lol. The only people I could see controlling a fight with Carwin and win are Velasquez, Fedor (getting submitted by one of the best HW grapplers in the world doesn't mean you suck), and Dos Santos. Of course I could see all of their mouthpieces fly in the 1st round too lol.

Carwin could knock him out but Cain has much more technicality and better striking defense, which is what you need to stand with someone like Carwin and not die. If Cain survives round one, Carwin is fucked. Fedor vs Carwin would probably be similar to Fedor vs Rogers, Carwin holds his own for a while (maybe even wins round 1) but the cardio and determination of Fedor will secure a victory.

@JoeCrazyEyes Cain vs Carwin is one of those fights that you just have to see to know what they could do to eachother (same as Carwin vs Lesnar). I imagine Carwin will start to be a little smarter. He should've stopped dropping bombs and gotten in Brocks guard once he realized brock was just sitting there blocking and waiting. Carwins already 35 but he's only been doing MMA since 2005 (I think) so that might be an advantage since his chin is still good and knows what to do when he gets rocked.

On a side note, Brock would have totally slaughter Cain Velasquez. The size different is just too much for Cain to handle. Brock's technically 3 weight classes up. With more giants like Brock, and Carwin coming in, fighters at the 230 to 250 mark are at a huge disadvantage. They gotta go up against larger opponents, and cutting to 205 is just too much of a cut. UFC should consider 250 max for heavyweight, and over 250 should be Superheavyweight.
Lesnar was thrown into the sharks right away. First fight was with Mir, then Herring, Couture, and rematch with Mir. He's gone against the best the UFC has to offer. You have to give him credit that he's the best in the UFC for now. I think Brock won't have much trouble against Carwin. I agree with most of the ppl here that Brock is an asshole based on his antics and gestures. Still has a lot to learn about being a champ.
to be honest, after he kicked the shit out of herring there was no point in putting him up against an unproven velasquez. however, i would agree that lesnar should have beaten carwin first, then gotten the title shot, then fought mir again for the unified title. the only problem with that is we would have had to wait longer for the two title fights. and who knows, maybe randy would have lost to someone in the meantime, or mir would have beat randy. who knows.

I look forward to watching Shane as time moves on, but he has yet to beat anyone. Even Velazquez has yet to beat anyone notable.
Ok. Kongo and Gonzaga both beat CroCop. One with a lucky KO. Kongo took him to a decision. That was not the CroCop of old; he claims injuries and we shall see. That said, what about Kongo? Who else has he beat? He lost to Heath Herring. Kongo has skills and potential, but right now an up & comer who fell short. So Velazquez and Shane are up & comers ready to collide. But neither of them truly deserve a title shot. Quite frankly, the UFC is weak at the heavyweight division.

I agree that Brock Lesnar did not deserve a title shot. That just supports my assessment of the UFC heavyweight division. Heck, the heavyweight greats are all aged and there was a bit of a gap of talent between 5-10 yrs ago and today. I do not like Frank Mir, but do respect his talents. All these guys we are talking about will hopefully be the next greats for years to come. But without Fedor in the mix, the UFC will always be weak. They have done too much to get rid of ex-champions.
I was only agreeing with a previous poster that Brock did not 'deserve' a title shot. But I do think he deserves the title. The point of this post thread is that the UFC heavyweight division is weak. Without Fedor, the heavyweights in Strikeforce and the now defunct Affliction promotion were on par. Cross promotion fights could be exciting. Hell, most MMA is exciting.

Carwin's got lots of potential. From his last fight, we know that he has a good chin and has KO power. Add to that his wrestling abilities, and training with good camp. He may be the only MMA fighter who comes close to Lesnar's size & strength. I think Carwin is not quite ready for Lesnar yet. Give him a few more months of training and another big win. In due time, he'll be ready and it should be an epic battle.

And don't think for a second that that's not a big part of why Lesnar was there Saturday night, sizing up his future opponent, which is inevitable. Reasons 1 and 2 are right but the UFC's heavyweight division has the best collection of talent. About five(mir, carwin, nogueria, lesnar, gonzaga, kongo, velasquez) of the top 10 hw's are with UFC and the other five are spread with Afflicton, strikeforce, etc. The money is not the big hold up with Fedor, his managers don't want an exclusive contract and they might want a stadium built in Russia.

No Mir caught Lesnar after he had trained for less than a whole year at MMA learning from the ground up with little to no real striking skill or ground defense. Lesnar dominated the fight if you had seen it and made a dumb mistake trying to punch downward while spreading his legs around mir giving him the chance to spin his legs around and catch him in the leg lock. Carwin walks around at 275lbs, I didn't know that. I think he is pretty quick for 275lbs guy and oppose lots threat on other fighters. Because everyone else is smaller except Lesner. I disagree a submissionist like Mir and Nog can submit Carwin with ease. All I've seen from Carwin is punch, punch, if he is bleeding, he goes for a takedown and then mounts. Lesnar can beat him with ease even if Carwin beats Gonzaga.
I give Mir a better chance than Nog. You know he is losing his eye sight according to MMA WEEKLY because of all the beating he have taken in his life. The part of the brain which, process images is not doing its job. But yes Carwin is not exactly the BJJ guy.

But I have read that he frequently travel between his camp and extreme coutour camp. I am pretty sure that Carwin will seek some help from Randy for Gab fight since he helped Randy for lesner fight. and I hope Carwin does that because Randy just walked through GAB.

Carwin has made ALL his opponents look like pussies lol. Brock did beat him but all he did was get his ass handed to him and take Carwin down in the 2nd round. Hell Brock couldn't take Carwin down when they were both fresh, lol. The only people I could see controlling a fight with Carwin and win are Velasquez, Fedor (getting submitted by one of the best HW grapplers in the world doesn't mean you suck), and Dos Santos. Carwin could knock him out but Cain has much more technicality and better striking defense, which is what you need to stand with someone like Carwin and not die. If Cain survives round one, Carwin is fucked. Fedor vs Carwin would probably be similar to Fedor vs Rogers, Carwin holds his own for a while (maybe even wins round 1) but the cardio and determination of Fedor will secure a victory.

@JoeCrazyEyes Cain vs Carwin is one of those fights that you just have to see to know what they could do to eachother (same as Carwin vs Lesnar). I imagine Carwin will start to be a little smarter. He should've stopped dropping bombs and gotten in Brocks guard once he realized brock was just sitting there blocking and waiting. Carwins already 35 but he's only been doing MMA since 2005 (I think) so that might be an advantage since his chin is still good and knows what to do when he gets rocked.

On a side note, Brock would have totally slaughter Cain Velasquez. The size different is just too much for Cain to handle. Brock's technically 3 weight classes up. With more giants like Brock, and Carwin coming in, fighters at the 230 to 250 mark are at a huge disadvantage. They gotta go up against larger opponents, and cutting to 205 is just too much of a cut. UFC should consider 250 max for heavyweight, and over 250 should be Superheavyweight.

Lesnar was thrown into the sharks right away. First fight was with Mir, then Herring, Couture, and rematch with Mir. He's gone against the best the UFC has to offer. You have to give him credit that he's the best in the UFC for now. I think Brock won't have much trouble against Carwin. I agree with most of the ppl here that Brock is an asshole based on his antics and gestures. Still has a lot to learn about being a champ.

to be honest, after he kicked the shit out of herring there was no point in putting him up against an unproven velasquez. however, i would agree that lesnar should have beaten carwin first, then gotten the title shot, then fought mir again for the unified title. the only problem with that is we would have had to wait longer for the two title fights. and who knows, maybe randy would have lost to someone in the meantime, or mir would have beat randy. who knows.

Who else has he beat? He lost to Heath Herring. Kongo has skills and potential, but right now an up & comer who fell short. So Velazquez and Shane are up & comers ready to collide. But neither of them truly deserve a title shot. Quite frankly, the UFC is weak at the heavyweight division.

I agree that Brock Lesnar did not deserve a title shot. That just supports my assessment of the UFC heavyweight division. Heck, the heavyweight greats are all aged and there was a bit of a gap of talent between 5-10 yrs ago and today. I do not like Frank Mir, but do respect his talents. All these guys we are talking about will hopefully be the next greats for years to come. But without Fedor in the mix, the UFC will always be weak. They have done too much to get rid of ex-champions.

Without Fedor, the heavyweights in Strikeforce and the now defunct Affliction promotion were on par. Cross promotion fights could be exciting. Hell, most MMA is exciting.

You know, one thing I hear nobody talking about is not only Fedor coming to UFC to fight against guys like Lesnar, Mir, or Carwin.
But, he is only 230 lbs, he could easily cut weight to make 205 to take on guys like Machida, Rampage, or even Anderson Silva bulking up to 205. Heck, James Irvin fought at 230 in WEC, and is dropping to 185, so it can be done.

No fighter is unbeatable. They said that Nogueira couldn't be finished, and Mir KOed him. If you go back to theColeman/Fedor fight of 2004, Coleman almot had him. Fedor is not immune to being overpowered. Arlovki was doing fine until 1 calculated mistake. Ok, Lesnar Destroyed Min soo kim as a newbie, Lesnar Almost TKO'd Mir till the ref stood them up without warning as a newbie, Lesnar FUCKED UP Heath herring for a whole 5 rounds as a NEWBIE.
ALSO: Lesnar TKO'd the Heavyweight champion (who dominated tim sylvia for 5 rounds and destroyed gonzaga) Thats why Lesnar is prolly the best cuz hes only getting better and NO FIGHTER ALIVE can say I beat the HW champ as a newbie

theres no way to know if mir was on his way to being tkoed and the ref stopped it due to rabbit punches.

Fedor and Carwin would both drop Lesnar and Couture, Carwin destroyed Gonzaga, and would destroy herring
Lesnar's best quality is his size and ability to hold people down, hes gonna get koed soon, Mir was (until it went to the ground) taking it to Lesnar in there second fight, he is by no means the best fighter alive
id have to go with Fedor or Lyoto for that title

Carwin's got lots of potential. From his last fight, we know that he has a good chin and has KO power. Add to that his wrestling abilities, and training with good camp. He may be the only MMA fighter who comes close to Lesnar's size & strength. I think Carwin is not quite ready for Lesnar yet. Give him a few more months of training and another big win. In due time, he'll be ready and it should be an epic battle.

I would love to see that. Carwin impressed the hell out of me after seeing UFC 84, and with this win against Gonzaga I'd like to see out far he goes.

And don't think for a second that that's not a big part of why Lesnar was there Saturday night, sizing up his future opponent, which is inevitable. Mir is going to get crushed by Brock, especially with his bad knee now. They might give Carwin another fight before he collides with Brock, but they will collide! Right here, and now, I'd take Lesnar for the win. In 6-9 months...who knows. Carwin trains with an elite camp, he's going to only get better with time, which he has, he's only 34.

Look, we can sit here and argue all day long who would beat who. The bottom line is he was the winner versus Gonzaga, regardless if Gonzaga is the "better" fighter. The same could be said of Brock, fedor, or anyone else....when you hit with the kind of power this guy has, you'll be taken out of your gameplan, both mental and physical, really fast. Take a look at his hit to Gabe, he was leaning back and didn't even get a good follow through. The guy is legit, and is a threat to Brock.

Carwin is a good fighter but I don't think he is ready for Brock. Carwin needs to fight more top fighters in the Ufc...Congo, Cain, Big Nog, maybe even Randy but they train together sometimes. Gonzaga got caught but Carwin is a beast.

pleaaaaaaaaaase dont mention Lesnar in the same breath/Sentence as Fedor. Lesnar is no were near the mythical status of Fedor, and never will be. Hes a hype machine with limited skills,although athletic,he is not a phenom like Fedor. Its only fair you dont relate Lesner to Kimbo.Brock is not a street thug phony but rather a collegiate national champion so he does have true crudentials.. I agree fedor is more skilled then Lesner but, he doesnt possess the physical size brock brings in on top of his ability.. I agree Lesner needs more experience before he can Fedor without getting trapped into a submittion or KO

How agile does a heavyweight need to be? This guy is plenty fast and nimble, hits like a bomb, and has great ground skills. Heck, I didn't see Gabe do squat to him on the ground, and he's a black belt in bjj. Arlovski? Pleeeeaaase!!! Carwin would make him his medieval prison bitch. The days of guys like Arlovski and Sylvia ruling the heavyweight division are long gone. This guy has enough power to put ANYONE out, including Brock and Fedor.

Reasons 1 and 2 are right but the UFC's heavyweight division has the best collection of talent. About five(mir, carwin, nogueria, lesnar, gonzaga, kongo, velasquez) of the top 10 hw's are with UFC and the other five are spread with Afflicton, strikeforce, etc. The money is not the big hold up with Fedor, his managers don't want an exclusive contract and they might want a stadium built in Russia.

Remember what they say, Todvor........In order to BE the best, you have to BEAT the best....near as I can tell, Affliction DOES NOT have the best heavyweights in the world...all they have is a bunch of FORMER ufc guys that couldn't cut it.
Let me ask you this...do you really think that Barnett, Arlovski, or Sylvia would beat Carwin or Lesnar? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see it happening. BTW..Carwin is 2 years older than Fedor, so your little diaper comment holds no water....next!

thats the exact same thing i said too man. he dont look like he's as big as he is...i watched like a 10 minute story on him and said he has be like that since he was a kid. (this blows my mind) but he can NOT fit into a 4X glove!? And yeah when he took those shots from gonzo and got took down...its like he thought "well i dont like this, ima stand back up".....stands up and 2 punches later gonzo is crippled up against the fence out cold.

No its not. He was pretty much getting his ass handed to him before he happened to land some good shots that caught Gonzaga. Anyone could get murdered throughout a fight, then come back with a knockout blow. And I'm not trying to take anything away from the guy, but he definetely has a ways to go with his training. And OF COURSE I'm going to be more impressed when she takes her clothes off, what am I going to be drooling over a turtle neck.

No Mir caught Lesnar after he had trained for less than a whole year at MMA learning from the ground up with little to no real striking skill or ground defense. Lesnar dominated the fight if you had seen it and made a dumb mistake trying to punch downward while spreading his legs around mir giving him the chance to spin his legs around and catch him in the leg lock. It won't happen again!

I love when guys "dominate" fights but end up quitting.Why the fuck does it matter what Lesnar did, he still lost? What matters is who is standing in the end. Stop making excuses for Lesnar by the way.Every fighter can come up with something if they lose.luckily, they are not like you for the most part and accept defeat like men. Mir could spout off about how his horrific motorcycle accident made him a lesser fighter, but he doesn't. It's because there are no excuses when you step in a cage.

Ok, thats somewhat true, but when Lesnar fought Randy ,he(Lesnar) seem to fight like he was in a bar, not like a mix matial artist. I was upset watching it because when you come from a camp there should be certain techniques you learn and demonstrate. I like Brock but there was not tech to his takedowns, no tech to his ground and pound, and noooo attempt at any submissions..All this is tought at camps.. He beat Randy by size and strenght and any real mma person will agree.

Carwin walks around at 275lbs, I didn't know that. I think he is pretty quick for 275lbs guy and oppose lots threat on other fighters. Because everyone else is smaller except Lesner. Carwin will have about 30lbs advantage over Gonzaga on the fight day. I say put Carwin against Lesner and we will see how who is better big guy. Of course Carwin have to beat Gab first. If Carwin makes quick highlight reel of Gab than there is no one else in HW division who can beat Carwin in UFC

I disagree a submissionist like Mir and Nog can submit Carwin with ease. All I've seen from Carwin is punch, punch, if he is bleeding, he goes for a takedown and then mounts. Lesnar can beat him with ease even if Carwin beats Gonzaga.

He did train with Randy and Helped him prepare for Lesner. Carwin also trained with Greg Jackson for few weeks for Neil Wein fight. But I have read that he frequently travel between his camp and extreme coutour camp. I am pretty sure that Carwin will seek some help from Randy for Gab fight since he helped Randy for lesner fight. and I hope Carwin does that because Randy just walked through GAB.
