You people are just finding out about wire taps,, let me tell you this they can drug you in your home too,, How? ,, they run a snake through the drains and get them into your home either apartment or house and pump chemicals about 24 to 48 hours later your not quit right edgy, angered easy and emotional, This is the chemical interrogation methods they use. I can tell you so much you would be wetting yourself

yes it is possible. Technically it is well within the abilities of the NSA alone, obvious no problem with the illegal cooperation of the telecomm companies.
They do not have to "process that amount of data" they just process the information they want.

Every call center has a recording of your call (at least the modern ones do). So sure, NSA could keep all our records.

Of course the tragedy is that this surveillance is nowhere near what we had to endure in communist countries where 25-40% of the population was recruited as informants. If Americans just used the tools available to them thanks to the heroic hacker community they could easily defeat carnivore like total information awareness softw. I urge everybody to use LINUX, TORPROJECT . ORG, GIZMO5 . COM PGPI . ORG and turn on their industrial strength encryption. If millions did that it would crash the NSA

Imagine for a second, think of how powerful the home computer is for only a few hundred dollars. Now think how powerful a computer/storage device or bank of them would be if you had a budget of billions of dollars of other peoples money.

good question, i have no idea about NSA's capabilities of course because it all depends on their budget which is secret. I think they have much more resources available to them than your average corporation and some corporations can already do that sort of thing: for instance google already keeps your search history going back months.
