If an animal has rabies, like roetemeteor said. It would be foaming from the mouth, walking/sauntering aimlessly and most likely be making weird noises. Rabies drills holes in the brain, so technically it would be acting like a VERY aggressive zombie. Which you can clearly tell in this video, the fox is healthy.

A fox crossed the path of hiking group I was in and and a guy walking near me went on a tirade about how nasty foxes (tempermented) creatures the are. I guess he bad a experience. People forget that animals recognize that generally humans are dangerous--unless they decide otherwise for a particular person. Lucky you.

Awesome. I live in Nevada in the US and here we have coyotes. They're similar to foxes but a lot more of a problem (especially to the ranchers). Usually they shoot them because they attack their livestock but it must be nice living in an area where they're not a problem and you can get that close to them.

If he's hungry and you don't startle him, they won't run. I've stopped my car next to a vixen and cub pulling roadkill off the pavement together. I took pictures and they just looked at me like, "What?? Go away!" And ignored me. When I worked in Richmond, at the airport, I saw a male fox come up to the same toll booth every day at 1:30 in the afternoon for a free handout. Great video, VeeJuu! Aesop would have been amused, too, I'm sure!
