Actually, quite a few conservatives were and are against the patriot act, including several on Fox. They realized that the unintended consequences would infringe on individual rights. But that tends to be a difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans speak up when they disagree with their Republican leaders, while Democrats just villify anyone who disagrees with Democratic leaders, regardless of the issues or what is at stake.
