Not much that can be done about the mistakes of her parents. God knows they've been trying to move mountains to fix them. But what's done is done, and no amount of regret can change that - only people like you who are vigilant and hopeful.
Although the chances that she is still alive get smaller with each passing day, the fact remains that several children have been found years after their disappearances. We cannot give up if there is the slightest chance that she is alive.
And if she is alive and staying with her abductors, chances are that she is being kept for the purpose of sexual exploitation - basically, she's 6 years old now and has probably already been raped.

If the British government does anything it should be done for all missing children and not just Madeleine. She should be found at all costs, but there will be tons of legal issues and an uproar from the British people who are anti-McCann (not that they should be pleased) and just average citizens because of obvious favourtism. Not to mention that the govt. feels no obligation due to the fact that she went missing in Protugal despite she is a British citizen.
