But the energy you have to put in is greater than the energy you get back, and the energy you put in is from oil or coal to make electricity. Yeah it will work, but it's not free neither. It still relies on fossil fuel, which go through many conversions (to heat, to electricity, then h2, then to motion of the car) and each conversion has a loss of energy as well. SO it should actually use more fossil fuel, not less.
Forget hydrogen. Drive cheap; drive electric.
