It's the same as the review mirror in a car (the mirror where you can see the cars behind you). On this song review as the meaning of someone on her past...
When she says: "I looked on my rearview and now I dont see you" it's like she looked into her past and figured out that that person was never really there...
or maybe..she looked her past and everythig that she succeed is... worhtless without that person...the most important she had lost... (this is my sense:))
