  • @ 0:23 Top birds like, "Geez. What's your problem buddy?"

  • was climbing a hill west side of Ullswater towards Matterdale this morn.In pursuit of 2 buzzards. As we got closer there were suddenly 8 in the air.Amazing to watch.enjoyed your filming.

  • Are these birds Buzzards

  • @TheDexter2100 The big ones are buzzards (that's european buzzard, not vulture), the black ones are crows, and the smaller falcons are called hobbies.

  • at 2:15 a cooper's hawk pwns a red tail.

  • saw a gull mobbing a sparrowhawk once. bit of a mismatch as gull was twice the size but he was ok, just jinked at last second. also saw a sparrhawk being attacked by a mistle thrush as he was circling round. didnt even try to fight. also seen a carrion crow mobbing a female spar high up. they usually ignore but this time she flipped out and went for it. crow went into a nose dive into trees with the hawk in hot pursuit. u never know what spar will do. my fav raptor. tiny, but viscious lol

  • do a barrel roll!!

  • waw.. really cool you captured this! Jackdaws do it to here in Holland.. With buzzards and others birds of prey as well! really amazing you can see the buzzard flipping over to grap his attacker with the claws.. :O

  • beautiful

can you take more video tapes of corvids mobbing other birds?

aLSO can you take video tapes of sea gulls getting in on the action?

LAst I was wondering if you could please tell me what bird that is that is being dive bombed and keeps flipping over so fast! AMAZING!

  • The bird which flips is a common buzzard (buteo buteo). I've got a fair bit of corvid/raptor action, but I can't think of much involving gulls.

  • Wonderfullll

  • Its cool to watch the preregrine falcon interact w/ the cooper's hawk.

Falcon vs accipiter-the fastest & most skilled flyers in the raptor world!

  • Agreed! - though the interaction is a young hobby (falco subbuteo) vs sparrowhawk (accipiter nisus) - this is in the UK.

  • oh-they look so much like the cooper's hawk & peregrines we have her in the states!

    did u film this yourself?

  • There are peregrines over here, but the only accipiters are sparrowhawks and goshawks. It's all my film.

  • Very impressed you caught a Hobby and Sparrow Hawk in combat and that has to be a very rare sighting? Are you in the south of England? We get plenty of Buzzards, Kestrels, SparrowHawk in North Wales and even Merlin on the Dee estuary but I've never seen a Hobby in flight before... Fantastic!

  • I'm bang in the middle of England (Warwickshire). There may be more hobbies around than you think - they are very difficult to find whilst nesting, but are pretty noisy and obvious after the chicks fledge in August.

  • Excellent, I will look out for them, pretty sure there arn't any in North Wales but I have seen the odd peregrine up here! However I did see a Sparrowhawk in the back garden just the other week... not so impressive! Thankyou for the great footage and may it continue!

  • lol thats a real dogfight and kamikaze strike :D

  • Are some of these courting flights?

  • The shots with two buzzards could well involve courtship or just play. The shots with more than one species are generally pretty antagonistic.

  • Thanks. I've watched ravens escorting ospreys and eagles out of their territory. Maybe I can get video of it.

  • "Are some of these courting flights? "

They might be. It's "accourting" to who you ask- lol!

  • i like sound

  • Beautiful. The silence works well with the images.
