  • That organ is amazing and entering that rink is like stepping into a time machine. I loved every minute I spent there.

  • Gary Russell: Make some more recording/videos like this.

  • thats a pal of myne! gary russel! he's a cool dude, i used to work sundays and see him alot, really good player and really cool guy

  • This is great! Please upload more!

  • This WurliTzer Theatre organ was originally installed in the Broadway Theatre (July 1926). R Bollinger purchased & installed it in Oaks Skating Rink (1955).

When The Oaks opened in 1905, live bands played for skaters. Next a WurliTzer Carousel Band Organ was used. Around 1921, a Wood Pipe Organ was installed.

Many rinks closed due in the disco era. Businesses survive on repeat business. Skaters who learned to appreciate the organ & dance skating skate for a lifetime with their family.

  • Theater Organs are the best of all insturments. Please post a longer segment

  • i do not miss working there one bit.

  • Just a correction the organ isn't a Wurlitzer Band organ It's a Wurlitzer Theatre Organ

  • But this one's in a rink... so wouldn't that make it a roller rink organ?

  • I am a carousel enthusiast (even though i'm 13) And Wurlitzer Is a great company, very rarely have i ever seen a wurlitzer organ like that before, plus i agree with wurlitzermad and snydertoestops. LONG LIVE KENNYWOOD PARK West Mifflin, PA, check out some of my videos for wurlitzer band organs

  • EW. Sunday!!! Sundays are gross, I like Saturdays.

  • i agree with contrabombardon... you philistine ! organists have more talent in one finger than any modern musician has , i {despite what my name says} am a fan of compton organs i play the one in ryehope comunity center sunderland 3,9 and that can over power any modern musician i can tell you ! this is also coming from a teenager

  • This is not a band organ. It is a Wurlitzer theatre organ.

  • Thankfully modern rinks have removed the Organ and anything like it from their designs...

  • You Philistine!

  • Only somebody ignorant enough wouldn't care one bit about the history, and story's that are deep in that organ. They just care about their dirty, ignorant rap/hip-hop music - and you're hearing this from a teenager.

  • I agree completely. Modern Punk Rock/hip-hop/rap (notice it includes "rap", much like "crap") musicians have no musical talent.
