Police forces in police states are less interested in the enforcement of law than enforcing the will of a government that has excused itself from law. We now live in a country where habeas corpus has been suspended, which basicaly means the government holds the right to make you disapear. Combine that with militarization of police, and its an ugly recipe.

The change is drastic I don't disagree there. However the criminals are also getting more militarised, what do you think about that? Why should the police try to enforce the law outgunned? All that will lead to is a lot of dead officers. Do you want the situation that occurs in other countries where the army (who are much less accountable than police) is called onto the streets to deal with riots and heavily armed criminals?
