i truly love stumbling bumbling blind into a true talent and the way it feels the very first time i hear and feel the emotions that a gift of true talent brings and knowing it will be just like that first time, everytime, thank u for sharing your gift,,
Who would dislike this? That one person must have been frightened and jumped and hit the wrong one on accident. Anyways. This is real music. Not that mainstream shit you hear on the radio.
Amazing video.. I just wish this guy had a personality... heard him a few times in concert.. he is simply not a nice man! Im from Northern Ireland too,,
I was there that night, it was the first time I had seen Foy live or heard this song and I can't describe it, but there were goose bumps, my eyes were welling up... This is music that moves you, it changes you, absolutely incredible.
does anyone have an mp3 version of this? i really want it. i have the album version and and another studio version but this is the version that got me into him.
i dont have the mp3 for this version, but i have his album. and 2 extra versions of gabriel and the vagabond and this song. and i have crosstown traffic. and ive been trying to find mp3s of some of his other songs but no luck yet.
i think the conducter approached him with the idea for doing this several years ago, exactly like the composer for metallica.
Thousands of artists every year use orchestras in their music. to think that Foy vance is ripping ff anyone, least of all metallica, is ridiculous. really dude, you leave comments like this up on the net and then call someone else a tard is hilarious. i'm going to announce this on my rock show.
the first point was a joke (thats why it says 'j/k ' at the end
then im calling the guy above a tard because he misunderstood the point i was making (which was a joke anyway) as chopin etc are not performers, not in the same sense anyway
you actually must be retarded or something. you are aware that more than just Metallica have used an orchestra for a production. + i really fail to see the correlation between Foy Vance and Metallica? I suppose your next comment will be something along the lines of The String Quartet have ripped off hundreds of bands? seriously think before you speak next time.
I was at this recording... IT WAS FREE!!!! I think this version with the orchestra is better than the one on the album. And yes that guy is using a whisk; Duke Special was performing that night after Foy I think that explains it :)
wow.....inarticulate speech of the heart.......hard to find words for the power of this performance......i met foy at sxsw in austin last month and he's a totally real, level-headed, compassionate guy........knowing that makes his talent even more unbelieveable
Jesus Fucking Christ. If i died right now, id die a happy man just knowing i got to listen to this...If i was there that night i'd actually consider killing myself..
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better...try Foy's "PLEASE DON'T GROW" from iTunes. The best 79p you will ever spend. I've run out of adjectives to describe how good it is
I was on a recording sess with Foy for his new album, and he played a little set of the old stuff with a couple of friends who popped in! just me sitting quietly in the studio whilst they absolutely rocked,a very special moment, things like that make being a poor engineer worthwhile :) - Foy puts 100% into every song he plays, although must admit that this is pretty special!
saw the man at oxeygen in 07. rest of my mates went off to see some other band and trudged through the assault course of muck along with everyone else while i sat and was mesmerised by this mans voice. i've never been moved by vocals like this eddie vedder. rare gift this man has.
A real musician with soul. Best Irish soul singer since the great Liam Ó Maonlaí. Power lyric. He even makes a crap venue like the water front look good!
Christ, the chills i get every time i listen to this..... the good kind.
