@kennyshortcut it was an album but for some reason never got advertised as much I think cause it went to being a straight hip hop album and you and I know they dont play real hip hop on the radio
@neathzz the media don't like real lyrics like this. Hip hop isn't the same as it was back in the days of "Real Music". Now it's about a nice hook, good beats, catch phrase, and club bangin. If NAS rapped like this to the some southern beats he's be on top if you ask me. But he prefer for people to focus on his lyrics than the beats. DMX even said something about people that don't pay attention to lyrics but listent o the beats.
@DaboooogA You must've misunderstood what I said in my post. NAS is the shit. That part is clear. And just because he does tracks with certain artists doesn't mean he has alot of doe. All I was saying is that the media don't like "real lyrics like this". In other words THIS SONG RIGHT HERE. neathzz asked a question and I gave him an answer. Songs like THIS isn't played on the radio like it used to back in the days of pure hip hop.
I came into rap when Illmatic came out. It will always be my favorite rap album. Then 36 Chambers came out to become a close second. This album is in my top 10, but it is not my favorite. The thing is that this album is light-years better than the crap on the radio and in the clubs. Watch out for J Cole and Jay Electronica too. Hopefully, they will bring hip-hop back to where it belongs.
classic album epic from beginning to end i love it...i smoked a blunt and then went out to buy this album and i flipped the fuck out this is one of the best albums i have ever heard....
Just because your at a mainstream label does not make you a mainstream artist. I can give you several examples of artists that were or are signed to mainstream labels yet wouldn't be considered mainstream, is The Roots mainstream? what about Ghostface? Redman? Slaughterhouse?
@majikcook1es yes I do. I know more about Hip Hop than you actually. Nas has been on Major Labels since he started rapping. He got major promotion. His topics aren't restricted to "mainstream" or "underground". The things he raps about used to be common place in the mainstream. And yes does and has talked about shooting,B!tches, money and smoking weed. Though he does talk about other conscious things.

@Critical2k10 stop talkin shit here fo real. no album can touch illmatic as far as any1

@Critical2k10 No every album by Nas isnt a classic. But Lost Tapes is. Every track on this album is heat. And the thing that makes it so bad: THESE ARE THROWAY TRACKS! In my opinion Nas has 4 albums that are undisputed classics: Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, and Lost Tapes. And Untitled was far from mediocre. It was probably the best album of 2008. It was definitely better than The Carter 3, thats for sure.
@moneymarc03 I have to agree...Illmatic is the best hip hop album ever put together. The Lost Tapes, just like Illmatic was, overlooked classic. everyone knows Stillmatic. Again, I agree, The Carter 3 is no where near the lyrical genius of any of nas' albums. The Carter 3 is like lil waynes other mixtapes.

@965567greg im a big nas fan, and still i say tupac the best. in a short time 2pac make alot songs that rise his resurection, if was gone that time, nas wount be so high like now, because nas mature alot being alot through from then till, nas experince through hip hop wars fr B.I.G. @majikcook1es To be "underground" or "indy" you have to be on a smaller label, get little promotion and in general be independent.
Immortal techniqe ? He's underground.
Nas ? He's mainstream.

Tupac or Nas arguin bout who better who cares...they both were really good I still wish pac was here he was great so is Nas i do think nas is better but it irritates me that people on here like pac was just ok or he was average...man it hasnt been nobody that can move people like pac could and he didnt have to say it like nas to be great. Nas has never moved me like pac has NEVER...Pac and Nas 1 and to put em how u want. but Pac reach deep and grab yo emotions Nas makes u think...thats all it s
