Ey bro I dont wanna critizcise u but i had that tank bought for like 12 bucks and another one 21 and this one is .5 gal the other one is 1.5 but i saw 2 3.5 gallon tanks for 20 and bought both, and returened the other ones, the new one has heater and filter, plz get em at least a 2.5 gallon tank :) some are very cheap and are a lot better.

Needs a bigger tank i was gonna get my fish abigger tankIm so sad i was cleaning my betta fish tank and as soon as i oned the water to clean uts tank he jumped out of its cup and fell down the drain before i could stop it its all my fault i guess u luve and learn but he is alivin thing if i had obly closed the drain and put the lid on the container :( ill miss him his colours are beautiful thats why i didnt but imma get a bigger tank for my next one live and learn ;(

What a lovely fish! I love the scarlet color.  I got mine at a wedding, remarkably enough--they were "decorations" on the tables. I was afraid someone would flush him or put him in a bowl with another fish to initiate a fight, so I brought him home. "The Commodore" is a little neurotic, but he's happy in his new home. If you like you're fish, buy an aquarium. There is no filter, no heater. The fish lives in it's own garbage. It only survives because it's a labyrinth fish, and it doesn't breath underwater. The only thing you can keep in a tank like that, would be a shrimp or a snail. Fishes can only be kept in a 20 litres or more.

Okay people. I care for many fish, however I keep a male crowntail betta that lives in a 3 g tank with air stone (no filter or heater) air stone keeps it clean with an adjustable valve for low currents. Very easy fish to care for. just water changes every other day or once a week depending on set up. Just do the best you can to keep a happy fish.

Sometimes bettas act weird when you haven't changed their water in over 6 days. I have mine in a 5 gallon tank but he starts getting sick if I don't change the water once a week. They have very delicate immune systems and they can't breathe well in water that is not totally fresh. He is jumping like that because his brain is not getting the right amount of oxygen. It also affects their feeding habits.

5 gallon tank for a betta is awesome! all bettas would love to live in a 5 gallon. Bettas can survive in a cup of water as you probably have seen on youtube, but they would definately be happier in a 5 gallon. Looks like youve done your research, hope your betta likes your setup

I used to put my bettas in a tank full of big fish & tetras (the blue red stripe kind & the brown stripe kind)& it was fine. but if you have a smaller tank or your betta is used to being alone,I recomend starting with one or two tetra.

No filter thats not good,yes thay may not have a filter in the wild but its diffrant tanks are inclosed there for more needs to be done to enshore safer water condisions for them ask any good fish retailer! I like the betta though he is beatiful.

hey true but people who had filters say there bettas die because the filter is dangerous for bettas thats why u see bettas without a filter in most petstore it kills and weakens theyre body strenght even if the current was slow just regular water changes is fine

@sajeevan1 The reason Bettas don't have filters in pet stores is because they are put in shitty little cups for shipping. A proper low flow, baffled filter is absolutely necessary to the health of your fish, unless you intend to do daily water changes. Bettas should be kept in a minimum of 2 filtered gallons at around 80 degrees.

@sajeevan1 That's strong filters where the intake and outtake has a powerful current(eg under gravel,hang on,internal etc)My betta actually enjoys the sponge filter.The intake current it's too strong and I catch him playing in the bubbles occasionally.
