  • that looks BRILL!!

  • Amazing. Im very PICKY about my william hartnell releases because the stories then had more of a bond with each other. So i bought this to continue from were the chase left of. I think it really is the best way to finish of the series. In my opinion this is the first fresh start that doctor who had. Peter Purves will always be my fave.

  • @CyberControl100 Beneath the Surface BOXSET

  • Speaking as a who fan im afraid im commiting blasphemy by saying i was never a Hartnell fan, i just never got the impression he conveyed the essence of a time lord and all that entails in his performance, probably due to the fact the time lords still hadnt been fleshed out fully but overall i never was a big fan compared to Troughton or Baker but this wonderfull trailer with its music and fast editing plus interesting story will make me re examine my views after i watch it.

  • My favourite trailer in the history of 2Entertain's Doctor Who DVD's. Absolutely brilliant!!!

  • I always wondered about the backstory of the monk. I guess he was just another rogue time lord like Morbius and the Master.

  • This was a good story and recommended if yo like the classic series. Hartnell and Buterworth are a delight to watch as they spar over the time meddling.

  • It's a great story, Hartnell's is great form, Peter Butterworth is good, Vicki and Steven work off each other nicely and the other guest stars put in good performances. I'm glad I brought a copy.

  • this is a great little story. I love it. I look forward to being able to buy the DVD here in Australia.

  • I enjoyed watching The Time Meddler one time in 1984 on my local PBS station. It's a crying shame BBC Enterprises destroyed master copies of 1960 Doctor Who. Us Americans got cheated for not getting syndication viewing rights to all Hartnell/Troughton episodes! :(

I feel those missing episodes still exist in untapped foreign markets.

  • bERNARD cRIBBINS AS Wilfred Mott..........

............ might turn out to be a forgotten Gallifreyan Time Meddler!

WTF TIMELORD is an anagram of Wilfred Mott.

    He would be excellent!

  • and cribbins played a copper in daleks invasion 2150ad; totally different character in that film with peter cushing as DrWho

  • I might get this along with The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Invasion, The Beggining boxset, the Bred For War boxset and the Five Doctors.

  • You do that!

  • I must say it really is a good dvd and i advise fans of the classic series to buy it

"Well what do you think it is a space helmet for a cow !!! "

  • i agree this dvd is great

  • Just bought it for 4 pounds in WHSmiths.

Lokks like a good one, especially with Buttersworth in it!

  • The Monk was cool, excellently portrayed by peter butterworth. You just dont get quality actors in the new series, with the exception of derek jacobi, theyr all popstars and talentless stooges. David Tennant's doctor would have been good if he wasnt a figity optimist and used as such a marketing tool! he wears converse for god's sake! His face is on everything, its over commercialism of a once good series. I miss the days of just classic doctor who.

  • Me too, first 4 doctors were class acts, i only watch the new series if there is an old monster in it.

  • Me too classic Dr Who will always be the best, the new series is just a load of special FX and comedy, Imo.

  • And an embarrassing grafted on 'emotional core' which sees characters getting all soppy to lend the set-up an air of maturity and sophistication.

  • What's the music?

  • I only have a few words to say about this DVD:

    I. Want. It. ^_^

  • Yes, The Time Meddler is amazing. I remember when I first saw it, during its 1992 repeat screening. I also like the novel, which gives more depth and darkness to the character of the monk and the narrative as a whole.

I wonder why he maintained the guise for 'The Dalek's Masterplan'?

  • becasue hes just fixed his Tardis

  • i dont remember the boat

  • Do not be deceived by the flashy editing and the dramatic score. The Time Meddler is a dated, sedately-paced, drawn-out, stagey old serial with a narrative that would barely sustain ten minutes of screen time by today's standards. Still, it is richly atmospheric and absolutely wonderful.

  • your a new series fan, who hates the orignal shows. You have to abit that Peter Butterworth is excellent.

  • then you are someone that can never be pleased

  • Well, these "coming to DVD" tidbits are flashy and "erotic" for no reason...

The pace is leisurely, but I wouldn't call it "sedate" or "drawn-out".

Today's standards cater to whiny little generation-Y brats who have ADHD too severe for medication to assist. As a person with ADD myself, the new series' lack of build-up, proper pacing, and ill-conceived story "logic" just shows where the real hacks are...

  • dude what's your problem?

  • Let's be honest - they're not gunna make a Coming Soon trailer that looks slow and boring are they?

  • I have my DVD of The Time Meddler now and I love it to pieces. It is by far my favourite Hartnell.

  • I got the DVD today and I totally agree. It's amazing :D

  • gr8 trailer, thnx for uploading...
